freefall Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 The orange thing locks the clip in place. put the loop arround the clamping screw so oyu dont lose it. I put it on last night, ended up using some old line as the leash. I put a slip knot (probly has a proper name, it looks like a noose) that goes over the gopro and the other end is looped around the foot strap. hopefully try it out at the weekend. Quote
Bigbud Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Does that orange clip only come with the HD ? Didn't get one with my STD. Quote
destroyer Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 iv got the non HD gopro and have just tried using it round the house with some Ni-Mh rechargable battries, im only getting around 5 mins of recording before they die, what battries are you guys using and how long do they last? Cheers Quote
Bigbud Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 I bought some brand new 1000 Ni-Mh rechargeables and got 1.5 hours footage without them dieing. Test them in another device fella, sounds like they have had it.. Quote

destroyer Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Add a bit of water to help it seal? Ya, tried that, it does stick better with water then becomes unstuck after a few seconds Quote
CKB Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Ya, tried that, it does stick better with water then becomes unstuck after a few seconds As per my previous post... Manufacturing fault with mine... send it back! ( I think the suction cup has a small dimple on the edge which lets in air) Supposed to be very difficult to remove once you get it on. Quote
destroyer Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Did you find it would stick to flat surfaces fine i.e laminate floors & kitchen tops just struggling with the board. Damm me for buying bargins off ebay Quote
CKB Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Did you find it would stick to flat surfaces fine i.e laminate floors & kitchen tops just struggling with the board. Damm me for buying bargins off ebay Wouldn't stick to anything for more than 5 secs and that included perfectly flat glass. It was meant to go on Lewis Wilby's snowboard for the 2010 Snow Kite Masters. Just as well I got a late delivery, as I would have probably lost my camera if he had used it. Lewis used the the helmet mount instead..... HERE (Link to Lewis's GoPro Footage) Quote
mouthyboi Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 i got one for xmas, the quality is pritty sick, ill try and get a vid up soon (attaced to front of car!) Quote
freefall Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) i used the flat stick on pad thingy to stick on the board, i put it next to the fin bolt holes as this will be the stiffest part at the end of a board therefore most likly to stay flat! Also once its on the camera can be taken off very quickly and the stick on mount doesnt need to be removed as it so small. Didnt like the look of the suction pad Used it on sat and its not going anywhere, had a couple of crashes and it was still there. First time i used it, shame about my riding http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFvQI2nGw90 Edited February 4, 2010 by freefall Quote
destroyer Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Is that blue line a saftey line from the camera to the footstrap? Quote
freefall Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 yea its just looped around the footstrap and looped around the bottom of the camera just incase. its just a bit of old kiteline Quote
C4C Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 which gopro kits best for board suction..... motersport hero? or surf hero...?? Quote
cowboy54 Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Surf hero isnt suction, you stick the base plate onto your board. Motorsports pack I have read that some people have had difficulty sticking it to their board Ive gone for the helmet hero pack due to someone telling me the image is a little more stable as your body absorbs some of the shaking, plus you get little stick on mounts which Ill use with the J-mount and some kite line attached to the camera/footstrap so I dont lose it Quote
getholdofgraeme Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 i bought the suction cup as an extra to my helmet hero, it stuck to my snowboard like it was welded onto it, unlike my kiteboard!!!! it just refuses to even remotely stick onto the kiteboard!!! will have to find another way to do it. Quote
destroyer Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 What make of board are you trying to stick it to? Iv had loads of trouble with my nobile 555 as it has a crinkled surface unlike my wakeboard that has a shiny glass like surface which the suction cap sticks to like glue to Quote
getholdofgraeme Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 yeah same, im trying to stick it to my airush x-pact - it has a slightly uneven (carbon fibre look) to it. sticks to everything else though! i need a new board!! camera is getting quite expensive now! lol Quote
