i would sue them for sexual discrimination- at least get your fuel and time costs back.

 

as a sports coach i can see how a lot of ladies perform better when in a supportive environment with other ladies (there have been many successful kayak courses over the years) but if you choose to enter a blokes comp then thats your choice.

 

pretty sure this discrimination is against the law!

Yeah that kind of sucks the situation you went through, but did it not occur to you in the slightest, not enough to persue a 2 minute phone call to check you were allowed to enter, rather than jumping in the car and travelling hours just to get turned away? I know thats what I would have done if I were in your.........shoes ;)

people dont pre register. obviously if they did then yes i could call and see, but as most people just turn up on the day it is pretty tricky.

though luckily i compete on the water aswell so not a wasted trip
