seaside Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 Was out today in my peter lynn st buggy and was going faster than i have before, however I had loads of front wheel bounce, one time it was so bad i crashed out big style. I thought it was possibly the sand, but realise that it was speed related so had to keep depowering the kite, something i did not want to do as i wanted to go faster, is there any way to stop this? or should i now start to look for a better buggy? Cheers Quote
smudge837 Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 hi seaside, i still very new to this sport, i have the same buggy. at first i was getting bad speed wobble on the front and that moved into bounce as well. i moved the down tube setting so it is further up.(making the buggy shorter) and this enables me to put a bit more positive pressure on the foot rests. that seemed to have cured it for me. i spent the week at westward ho, the other week full days on the beach going flat out,(well flat out for me) and no problems with the front. have fun and fly safe Quote
parksy Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 I know nothing about buggies, but it would seem you need to move the seat forward, so more weight toward front wheel. Or get some heavy boots:D Quote
tsp13 Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 let the air presure down in your front wheel pherhaps, Quote
Luke Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 let the air presure down in your front wheel pherhaps, ditto to that & put extra pressure with your feet on the foot pegs this helps add as a steering dampener at speed. If your front wheel is lifting, go the full monty, send it, get the back wheels off too, no more death wobble Quote
festa Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 i'd try lower pressure in your front tyre maybe about 15 psi depending on wheel size i run 8 psi in my bug but i'm running k'cats Quote
avspider Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 It's prob to do with the front tyre. Best thing to do is rotate the tyre on the rim & try it. Quote
smoo Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 I to have a PL comp, and I second the putting more pressure on the footpegs technique. If you have a backrest it gives you something to push against. And it makes it a lot more comfy. On the beach I use I can see a bank of shingle approaching so I can brace myself ready for lift off, and sometimes the buggy is still there when I land :o Quote
seaside Posted September 22, 2009 Author Report Posted September 22, 2009 Thanks for the info from you all:D, It all has worked and the problem gone. Saying that I now have a slow puncture on one wheel, are there innertubes in them so i can repair, or are they like a car, if so how do you fix THIS problem:confused: Cheers Quote
sgillow Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Some have inner tubes and some dont, have a look where the valve pokes through the rim and see if it is sealed or not as that will give you a clue. I expect in barrows you have inner tubes. Quote
bartiebat1599968741 Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 I get loads of punctures from razor shells - gave up & green slimed all of them so each time I get one just keep pumping them back up! Not sure if that's a good idea or not but seems to work fine! Quote
8015 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 My top speed in my PL was about 37mph I think, I never had any serious wobble or bounce but it felt like the whole buggy was on the verge of disintegrating. If you seriously want speed, then look for a bigger buggy, if drag racing is just a phase you are going through, maybe you should stick with the PL. Unless they have changed the wheels, PLs have inner tubes - the valve holes are square and therefore not compatible with tubeless valves. This also means the tyres are easier to get off, the inner rim on a tubeless tyre is a nightmare with barrows because there is so little tyre to grab and flex to pop the bead over. Quote
Frakke1599968664 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 lean forward !!! puts more pressure on the front wheel deflate till 1 or 1.5 bar in the front wheel that helps don't be scared to go fast AND sideways at the same time punctures - I didn't get any of them for ages - now I get them all the time - do you have any rubber left on your tyres ??? - mine are bald and need changing F Quote
