sandoflucejack Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 My girl friend and I (well more me) want to go on a Autumn kite surf trip, we are planning on having about 6 weeks off to relax, experience some different culture and kite surf. I am up for an all out kite surf trip. I am a beginner but really want to commit myself to the sport for a good month of solid kitting, however my girl friend is not quite so dedicated. I need a destination that will have other things going on other than kitting. A nice bit of culture, sights to see and good places to eat. My current plans are for a week or so in and around Tarifa as it seems quite beginner friendly and should have a bit of Spanish culture to it (i.e. she like Tapas). Then perhaps heading for Dakhla, Morocco. Seems like a hard core kite spot (as in nothing else to do) but we both like the idea of camping next to Lagoon in the Sahra. From this point we may store our kite gear with the idea of returning back or send it home so we can travel easier. Any ideas would be most helpful. Would you guys approve of the route or send us some where completely different? Thank! Jack Quote
cgfrance Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Take a look at south of France The beach L'Almanarre near Toulon - 1.5 hours from italian border and lots to do; all the tourists will be gone and we can get the beach back in 2 or 3 weeks! Also some really good lake locations less than 1 hour away Quote
sandoflucejack Posted August 7, 2009 Author Report Posted August 7, 2009 That sounds nice but we have spent a lot of time in France/ Italy and it would be good to experience somewhere different. Could be good in the spring though as we usualy drive down that way after the ski season for some sun Quote
_Geordie_ Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Tarifa ain't that beginner friendly IMO. Its hellish busy, the water is deep and cold (wetsuit even in summer if you're learning and spending a lot of time in the water). Dunno what others think but ideally to learn I think that you should go somewhere where the water is warm, preferably flat and preferably knee to waist deep and sandy. Depends on your budget but I would head to the Caribbean (dutch antilles etc) or Egypt. Quote
sandoflucejack Posted September 7, 2009 Author Report Posted September 7, 2009 Ok. My plans have changed. I am flying out to Brisbane, Oz 24th November where i have two weeks to either go up the east coast or fly out to some Islands (Fiji, Solomons or New Caledonia type places). Problem with the islands is that it is there rainy season and they cost an abseloute bomb to stay on. I am then flying accross to Perth for Christmas and may from here explore some of the west coast. Does any one have experience in any of these spots? i would be looking to hire gear and get some lessons. Quote
