Afro1599968737 Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 and stops your grab handle being inserted... not a problem i've ever had, maybe cos i dont crouch down on my board or maybe cos i dont swing that way Quote
conor Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 yeh if it don't catch you, you are in for a super hard landing. it is even painful on water! dread to think what it would be like on land Quote
jamesrtp Posted July 25, 2009 Author Report Posted July 25, 2009 wish i had someone with a camera last night, was a great session and got a proper go looping my new 10m North 09 Vegas, can't wait to get the winds for my 7m :D and by the way Gomas, the ban has been lifted, just waiting for the signs to go!!! Quote
Gomas Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 ^ weird; i've looped kites from 13 to 6 meters, foils, C's and hybrids, and i'd say that foils can give you some badass loops... they do tend to be slower than inflatos, but that just makes them loop lower in the window, giving you more "wang" and i've never been a fan of the whole "caught" loops thing, it feels like you go all out for an insane move, only to backtrack and water it down for a tame landing... hot and hard all the way with the kite out in front, not heli-looping overhead AFro.. your a good rider, but this statement is gash. If youve done a big loop and your kite hasnt made it back up the window to catch you, youd know how painfull it is. if not, go out maxed on a 14 and loop it.. youll soon see what happens. James.. tread with caution. Quote
Afro1599968737 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 [go out maxed on a 14 and loop it.. youll soon see what happens. what do you think is maxed? 20mph? what do you think constitutes a hard / painfull landing? dropping from over head height? how flexy is the board you're riding? it all makes a difference, but rather than spout on about it, i'll try and get some footage to backup my seemingly unpopular views Quote

Afro1599968737 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 on land thatd be death. thats where we disagree edit: in part because a decent, stiff landboard will absorb alot of landing force... Quote
-Jonno- Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 I suppose this kite loop is gay because the kite catches him: Quote
jamesrtp Posted July 27, 2009 Author Report Posted July 27, 2009 kinda miss doing loops in 30 knot winds on the water. Quote
-Jonno- Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 kinda miss doing loops in 30 knot winds on the water. Why don't you go on the water anymore ? Quote
Afro1599968737 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 chill everyone; i never used the word gay i respect big loops however you choose to do them, but much prefer one style in particular Quote
jamesrtp Posted July 27, 2009 Author Report Posted July 27, 2009 is the reason why those guys go so high because they fly hybrids and not c's, cus they can go out in big winds with big kites cus of the depower? Quote
jamesrtp Posted July 27, 2009 Author Report Posted July 27, 2009 kinda miss doing loops in 30 knot winds on the water. Why don't you go on the water anymore ? my board now has 0 fin, and its only a 125 and i now weigh 10 stone, so its like trying to ride a dinner plate. Quote

wenglish Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 loops keep on poping up every now and then and some of the same gash statements turn up every time. im currently working on getting decent powerd loops sorted and its not just about cranking the bar and going for it. the right edgeing technique can make a huge diffrence especially when doing them unhooked. when your hooked in you have to make sure your commited, anything less will give you a bad landing (regardless if the kite catches you or not) and will probably result in you crashing the kite (yep ive looped my kite into the ground, it wasnt just a down turn it sorta skimmed the ground and then crashed, i stopped turning once it got just past 6, i think i had it in my head that i was going to unspin the bar mid air and the kite hadent gone around as far as i thought lol so far ive crashed quite a lot learning loops and they hurt. if anyone is doing them to a decent size and with a decent amount of wang (yeah its all about the wang, no wang, then no point in the loop) then they get a huge amount of respect, these things hurt and there is no easy way to learn them, you can build upto them but its not like you can just decided halfway round that its not going to work and leave the kite at the zennith drop the board and float down nicely peace and love and all that stu Quote
jamesrtp Posted August 10, 2009 Author Report Posted August 10, 2009 still waiting for some videos Wenglish hope you haven't forgotten Quote

jamesrtp Posted August 10, 2009 Author Report Posted August 10, 2009 nice, i've tried un hooked in light winds, where is that? looks like an epic location? Quote
Tjah1087 Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 cleeve hill, its not as awesome as it looks, grass is actually quite long and ground isnt smooth. and its covered in sheep nuggets. nice and exposed to the wind though. Quote
