Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to avoid rotating whilst in a jump. I cant seem to avoid it. No matter what body position I have when taking off, I always rotate clockwise slightly if i go high enough and have to bail. Ive tried rotating the bar clockwise which helps me spin anticlockwise slightly but not enough.

My other issue is that if I cannot direct the kite with one hand. Should I be able to direct the kite with one hand?

sounds like its the way your leaving the water, you could be getting the rotation from there. open your body out more, try to put a grab in as this can also kill the rotation by putting your body off axis.

I am leaving the water facing the direction I am traveling but by the time I get back to the water I have turned at least one quater turn.

I am using a waist harness.

Do watch the kite as you're sending it back?? I had this problem when i was first starting jumps on land. might be completely different. but as i watched the kite going through the zenith, i'd take off and my body would follow where my head was looking. As soon as you take off, spot your landing.. might help?!

is your front leg lazy when taking off, and dipping slightly and the board edge catching a little as you take off, this will spin you, sometimes in choppy seas this will happen if you take off with loads of speed just in front of a breaking ramp, the water catches an edge and you end up all over the place, and sometimes overflying the kite

yeah you need to pop the takeoff.. i also find it much easier to keep it steady and also land a jump if i throw a back hand grab in rather than just doing it straight. i think it gives you something to concentrate on. might be worth trying to get that hand off!

Thanks for the info,

Does any one know about my second issue of not being able to direct the kite with one hand (During a jump)?

on your first issue; when popping don't rotate the shoulders away from the bar, ie keep the shoulders in line with the bar

re issue above; yes, you should be able to redirect the kite one handed; most of my backloop transitions are one handed. Kite size will determine speed of redirection. With my 7m it's just a flick of the hand almost whereas with my 15m it's a good tug.

When you try your first backrolls (intentional) you will end up redirecting your kite (unintentional) with your back hand.

Thanks,

I dont have a problem with backloops or frontloops or even back hand grabs whilst doing them as I just put more weight on my front had. I can't however do any kind of front hand grab as my back hand would not be able to re-direct the kite whilst powered up. Even if I hold it next to the depower rope. I have also tried having 2 fingers either side but that feels horrible.

What year Roo's - how is the bar pressure/input required to steer?
