castanza Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Just wanting to know what people think about the 5th line. There are good things and bad things about it. Or is it there due to bad kite disign so it dosnt fold. What do you think? Quote
pils Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 too be cool,or not to be cool, THAT IS THE QUESTION !!!! (look at me im milking a cow) Quote
koma Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Entirely personal preference but all of my kites are 5-liners. (Naish Torch, Naish Alliance and older Slingshot Fuel) I assume by cool or not cool your actually asking if they're worth while or beneficial, and in my opinion yes. I prefer them for safety reasons, and they've kept me in one piece enough times for me to justify the extra work of unwinding another line. Being able to grab an arms length of fifth line to get you through a squall, being able to drop it to a single line and know exactly what it's going to do every time, no bridles, no pulleys, less potential failure points. The only time i'd opt for a 4-liner is if i spent any serious time in the surf. Quote
