Cyprino Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 I'm looking at getting a GI Prodigy once i've got some spare money. Question: Does it come with Vegas hubs or Bomber hubs? powerkiteshop.com states Bombers in the "Description" tab and Vegas's in the "Specs" tab I've heard about the Vegas hubs being a bit naff compared to others on the market. Could someone tell me what the problems with them are? And would it be worth getting a set of Twistars or something? Thanks folks Quote
andrewjohn Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Unless you're landing BIIIIIG powered jumps then either will be fine. I've been running a prodigy with vegas hubs for a year now with no problems, and sometimes land a bit hard, and I'm no lightweight. It seems that most places are now supplying it with bombers so might be worth a phone call to check if you want Vegas hubs. Quote

I dont know much about GI Boards but I have seen alot of bad press about the Vegas hubs. Mostly to do with the paint chipping and not looking to good after alittle use. Also the first of the Vegas Hubs did crack not sure if that got sorted. The shops say yes they were but of course they would say that. I would stick with MBS or Tramper. Quote

Cyprino Posted February 28, 2009 Author Report Posted February 28, 2009 Hey Breezer, I'm good. Not been out flying enough recently though I'm 9.5st and nowhere near landing massively powered jumps etc! I've got no experience with Bomber/Vegas hubs so i've got no preference over which I get. Just wondered if the Vegas's were worth avoiding because of the problems with them? Quote

Here you can have ago on my Quadrolation if you want. Quote
Cyprino Posted February 28, 2009 Author Report Posted February 28, 2009 OK crowther, will do. I'll drop powerkiteshop an email asking what hubs the Prodigy comes with Breezer - the weather's been awful, quite frankly! Any fields near us have been bogs I'll speak to mum/Chris about next weekend. I quite fancy your Pro 90 actually!! Quote
Breezer Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Breezer - I quite fancy your Pro 90 actually!!    Quote
Cyprino Posted February 28, 2009 Author Report Posted February 28, 2009 hehe Our comp 6 is getting a bit ancient!! Quote
austin Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 pro 90's are sweet, if your local to the airfield you can always trial mine, very reasonable price too! Quote
andrewjohn Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 pro 90's are sweet, if your local to the airfield you can always trial mine, very reasonable price too! But Prodigy's are half the price:eek: Funny how alot of people that sl&g off GI have never ridden them for any length of time. And come on, any board ridden alot will start to show it with paint peeling etc, who cares? If you're that bothered about the bad press of Vegas hubs, then use the standard hubs. They are bomb proof. I've been riding GI boards for over 3 years without any problems, other than the usual parts that'll eventually need replacing on any board. Ask Butch what he thinks of the whole set up. Quote
tsp13 Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 my mate has got a GI prodigy and he got a split in the deck fairly quickly. Quote
Cyprino Posted March 1, 2009 Author Report Posted March 1, 2009 austin - i'm in East Sussex, it'd be a hell of a trip up to Leicestershire just to try a board I've emailed powerkiteshop asking what hubs they come with. If it does come with the Vegas hubs, i'll probably have it anyway, because I'm not good enough yet to be getting huge airs and hard landings. Nowhere near enough to go breaking hubs etc Quote
peter32 Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 I emailed the same question to the same people last week comes with bomb's "this item when available will be complete with the Bomber hubs – (Vegas hubs are no more)" - Dan Eaton then I got a comp 90 lol Quote
spooky Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Think my local shop has one in, I'll check for you. Ref the Vegas hubs, yes there were issues with the first lot in terms of strength But sorted now Only real issues is the colour can chip/flack off the center bits, but the mud normally covers that up Jon Quote
Cyprino Posted March 1, 2009 Author Report Posted March 1, 2009 spooky: I might be interested if their price can beat this place: http://www.activetoys.co.uk/shop/kites/kite-buggies/prodigy-atb-538197.html I'm also tempted to buy bits and bobs and make a custom board of sorts Quote
n-tymes Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Check this out it a great board. http://community.flexifoil.com/showthread.php?t=159228 Quote
Cyprino Posted March 1, 2009 Author Report Posted March 1, 2009 Sweeeeet looking board, but i'm after something shorter! Quote
TeddyP Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 if you dont mind waiting abit get the new flexifoil Hunter, really nice lightweight bored with perfect flexibility aaaaand half the price of the pro 90 Quote
spooky Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 That Conflict 106 is a MUCH better board than the Prodigy, only a tad longer, but will not hold you back, ad is stronger. Jon Quote
andrewjohn Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Conflict is an awesome board, but is 19cm longer than the prodigy and heavier too. Do what I did. Put some Bionics on the Prodigy and you've got a very good ride. Quote
eazyrider Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 To be fair to GI, Ive had a knackered Flight Light 100 for over 3 years and I sent them an email about my board the other day. I got a mail back offering to replace every broken part! For that they get credit in my book. EDIT: Breezer and cyprino pm me if either of you guys are heading down to camber or GS. Quote
