vic15 Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Hi All, I'm relatively new to kiting (been at it for almost a year now) and with winter coming up, was wondering about my options on snow kiting in victoria ... Is falls really the only mountain snow kiting can be done on, or are Buller / Hotham posabilities as well? Do you need to call ahead to let someone (eg. lift company / ski patrol) know you're thinking of doing some kiting, or is it a bit of a free-for-all and you can just go for it? At the moment i'm on a 10m north SLE kite - should I be using a foil kite or would the SLE be fine to use? Given the terrain and potential fast changes in weather up on the mountain, is there anywhere you can goto check out what the wind is likely to be like on any particular day - and is the wind-speed on mountain vs on the beach the same (when determining what sized kite to use), or would be you going for a smaller/larger kite on the mountain? all going well i'll be heading up with a friend who's been in the kiting scene for quite a bit longer than i have, so not quite going to be at it alone, tho still interested to hear your thoughts on it all! Cheers! Quote
