Katch Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Hmmm - 10 weeks till I get out of the mountains and back to my kites. On the list when I finally get back out - riding blind, flat 3s with some kind of consistency, backloops and frontloops - that should do for the first few weeks I guess. Oh and IKO instructor training - See you in the south of France Quote
kevob Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 If I could learn to ride upwind my goal would be achieved. No matter how much I try I'm just not really getting it. that was a frustrating time for me too but it suddenly comes when the conditions are right and you then progress really fast Quote

The Geoff Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 What an awsome thread! I love the optimism, I'm just the same, it may be thick snow outside but the evenings are getting longer and not long now until its all a bit warmer! Here's to a wicked season ahead. Hear hear! I just bought a telescope because the dark nights were doing my head in a bit, hey...if you can't beat them! ive got backloop and toeside on my list for my next few sessions (yaaawwwwn for you guys thats been around for a while) found the tutorials on iksurf mag, you guys know anywhere else that breaks moves down like that? i dont know what half the ****s called what you do never mind think about doing it. i prefer the style of ruben (thats what got me interested in the sport) any tips or should i just practice going as high as i can for the time being? I'm about the same level as you, going for backloops (over-rotating), OK with toeside (love those big carvy turns in the shallows ) Personally I'm trying to get everything fluid and instinctive, I do tricks for the same reasons lambs jump about, not for any points-based reason or technical challenge Quote
Andy C Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 Josh I was kind of joking about the trick, hope you got that. It sounds suicidal let alone difficult. Quote
KiteItRight Posted February 9, 2009 Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 well good to know everyones still on it... just imagine that first warm late night session at your local mid summer, 9pm ooo i cant wait! Quote
whiteside_josh Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 Josh I was kind of joking about the trick, hope you got that. It sounds suicidal let alone difficult. ooh haha:cool: Quote
Antigrav Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 I've stupidly already been trying tricks in the cold! Already nailed nicely powered front and back loops hooked in, just need to unhook. Did some kiteloops while I was out last wednesday, but would like to get them nailed properly, not as sketchy as they were in the chop then! My aims for the season ahead are firstly raileys and s-bends and then whatever else I feel is within reach at the time! Wanna try some powered passes once I get unhooked properly! Here's a pic of a nice frontroll I nailed on wednesday http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j295/Antigrav247/FrontRoll.jpg I'm very proud of it even though it's not unhooked or anything yet Quote
northrhinodude3 Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 i prefer the cold weather keeps all the good beaches empty my wet suit works so i dont get cold . for next year tho i wana have most of the passes cracked quite early on and possibley some big air trick. but what i want most is for some one to hold a big air comp Quote
Jono Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 As soon as the weather is warmer my aim is to learn to say no to work and yes to the beach Hi all - sorry have been a bit alouf of late. Quote
