Hi just wondering which is the better kite the scorpion or venom / venom 2

I allready fly a 16m scorpion and im looking for a higher wind twinskin 13m or 10m to extend my flying range

i have seen many posts on here about the venoms and how there is not much difference between the venom and venom 2 but not seen post comparing the two makes

I was also wondering does the vpc system make a lot of difference in kite performance and turning

is the venom slower turning because it does not have this

sorry loads of questions but you guys are the experts and hopefully have the answers

Many thanks

i think the mid AR arcs around the 10m size have been sorted for a very long time - since the G2 perhaps. turning speed on the 10m arcs isn't an issue, they turn plenty fast enough i reckon :) the venom2 10m is a cracking arc if you can find one, the top end is very impessive.

that said the 10m scorpion also has a mental top end, and sits very far forward in the window which gives it more depower and even better upwind - though in the winds these kites come alive getting upwind isn't usually an issue.

i think the venom2 would be more stable than the scorpion of the same size as the scorpion tends to fly a lot faster towards the edge of the window making the power a bit on off

don't suppose you have found a 10m synergy?

the tuning system on the v2 does help, it fine tunes your flying but the v2 loses some gust munching ability (less cells on the v more on the v2 this makes it more stable) the 10 v2 is like a wasp on steroids lol great fun, if you can find one grab it but the synergy i have only flown the 15 and for some reason did not like it so stuck with my v2 16 and bought a 13v, as when the wind pickd up i want to know the gusts arent too rough with me

i fly a venom mk1 13m, seems most any arc 10 is like a wasp on roids(lol guerilla) a venom 10 scared the pants off me the first time i flew one after flying a 13m bomba for 3 months. then the guy who owned it broke his shoulder 30 mins after(naughty kite)

love my 13 v1 though, super stable cheaper that a v2 and still has tons of adjustment to suit along with floaty lift and traction.

i dont see the need to own another kite apart from my v1 13m as if its too windy to fly that it too god damn windy, i weigh in around 15-16 clem. id love a slighty bigger arc though especially a scorpian for the extra apparent wind and lift in lower wind situations for flying on grass. the v1 does great in low wind on a beach for me.

Unfortunately did not have a chance to fly a V2 of the same size as Scorp one right after another, but it seems to me that the biggest difference is higher aspect ratio in Scorp and therefore higher flying speed, lift, better upwind performance, less side pull and less stability (if arcs can be unstable ;) ). V2 is more stable, turns faster, has more pull easier to water/relaunch. The VPC line in my opinion deos not make much of a difference.

I own Scorpion 13m, Venom-2 10m, Synergy 8m.

Have flown Scorp 10m, but only once, so it's really hard to judge.

I personally prefer V2 over Scorp and Synergy over V2.

Hi thanks everyone for your opinions there does'nt seem to be much difference between the two kites,Both kites being quite aggressive (scorpion more) vpc not worth having on small kites as they all turn quickly, venoms slightly more stable but then arcs are stable by nature.

The kites seem very well matched

So i think i will try and find myself a 10m scorpion only because its a high aspect ratio and should give a faster fly and bigger jumps

Many thanks for all your opinions you have answered a lot of questions

Cheers Mylo
