boat man Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Hi Guys This is a bit of a random question but one that someone asked me at school today. Does anyone know when the driving age is set to increase as few people in my year are just starting but one of them said that it might be changing so when it gets to my birthday the law will have changed. Thanks in Advance Stu Quote
Bertie Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 its possible but its not happening yet Quote
Bertie Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 nothing has been passed yet so there is no date for it Quote
sym170 Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 i think BS. this was said before i turned 17 as well. i have heard they intend to increase the difficulty or amount of examinations, which would increase the time it would take to get a license, but i doubt even that would be introduced anytime soon. then again i have no solid idea Quote
DavidOps Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 This rumour has been flying around for ages. I first heard it when I was learning to drive. Every time I've read an article about restricting young drivers it's always focused on speed limits, cerfews and passengers. I can't ever recall seeing anything even semi-official about upping the test age. Just relax and get qualified. Quote
boat man Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 Thanks thats what im hoping for. I tried typing it into google and the newspapers have been at it saying that it will happen. I dont mind the test being harder just so long as I dont get the endless stick from class mates saying that im to young to drive. Quote
Icatel Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 the newspapers talk **** 90% of the time, i wouldnt worry. Quote
-Olly- Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 they are changin the tests dramatically next year i believe ut the age isnt changing YET Quote
braddels Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 this rumour goes round every year. it was so bad before i turned 17 that the dvla and dsa issued statements on thier websites Quote
Taunton Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Isn't there somthing coming up in the near future, or already has, whereby if you pass your test at 17, then you still have to have another qualified adult (ie over 18) with you? This is to stop the 17 yo chavs going out on there own and killing themselves and will handily now mean they'll put there 18yo mate in the passenger seat and kill em both ;-) Quote
MRob909 Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 I know the theory test has changed, it used to be 30 questions but now its 50 for the multiple choice. However i too heard the age was set to increase but nothing yet! Quote
Lolage Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Yeah, remember when i was 15 - worrying about this as they were going to change it to 21. You should be OK. Quote
