bond007 Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 hi ,ive got a blade 4.9, and a blurr3.5 I love jumping and i love the blade but what i was wandering was would a 6.5 blade make my jump better and can u get into trouble if the wind gets up,whats the pro and cons. many thanks bond . Quote
Anne1599968726 Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 A 6.5 wouldn't necessarily make your jumps better, but it would let you jump in less wind than the 4.9 will. Of course you can get into trouble if the wind gets up, but thats true of any kite. Quote
tszy Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 The Blade IV 6.5m is well worth getting, you may only use it on low wind days if flying static but if you progress to buggying then the 4.9 and the 6.5 would be a really good start. If you intend to continue flying static only then you should be looking at a smaller kite for the higher wind days [ a 2.5 Bullet would be good ]. A 6.5 Blade could catch you out in the gusts - I've been hoisted out of my buggy several times so wear a helmet and other body protection if you have it. If you don't have any - get some as a priority before you buy a bigger kite. Quote
CeeJay Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 Much better float than the 4.9m and slower turning so i'd argue that its less likely to catch you out provided you're not daft with the winds you launch it in. The Blades are great to static fly and the 6.5 is the pick of the bunch imo, go for it Quote
Icatel Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 I'd agree with CJ on the characteristics of the 6.5. You'll get a great deal more feedback into the handles from it, so you can feel more where it is in the window as you're in mid air as well; saves you from those horrible misdirecting mistakes! If you're gonna jump seriously then get a crew of 4/5 of you together to pass the kite around, allows for whole evenings of flying! Quote
bond007 Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 makes sense, need to find more people around here Quote
charliesymes Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 i have a blade III 6.6 and its very similar to the blade IV 6.5, its fantastic for jumping in low wind and high winds is fantastic!!! and its cheaper!!! go for that!!! Quote
ian1983 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Hey man, My 6.5 is crazy in strong winds! Some time ago I decided to risk it and fly in strong winds - immediately put it away as being dragged 30ft and not being able to stop despite brakes. The turning is obviously slower but pulls like a train that wont stop. When I next see you, will try and fly it so you can have a butchers Quote
bond007 Posted September 8, 2008 Author Report Posted September 8, 2008 thanks for letting me have ago of the blade ian ,very nice kite ,feels really smooth,, c u up there , Quote
ian1983 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 No worries mate - funnily enough, you headed off and the wind picked up! got a couple of jumps but then it went completely dead so called it a night. At least you know how good they are... The Blurr was really nice to fly, loved the handles and kite was very smooth. Anyway, lets hope it's good weather and will catch up with ya soon Quote
Devoted1599968706 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 6.5 will be worth the money. Good luck Quote

Inch_speller Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 To sum it up in one word "Mental" Their great fun, a bit like flying a bus but with the pull of an Ocean Liner Quote
ian1983 Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Hey evoman, As you're from Maidstone, easiest way is going through west kingsdown, then past Brands (located on right) and the field would be on the right hand side just after. You would easily be able to see my blade 6.5 so thats a good reference point! Hope this helps. Ian p.s -What kites you got mate? Quote
evoman76 Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Thanks Ian Will try and pop along at some point. As for kites I have got 3 stackers of various sizes and a 3.6 beamer Quote
