When I can I like to go to the beach and have regularly seen kite surfers at Eccles/Sea Palling in Norfolk. It looks so much fun but I'm not a great swimmer so that side put me off a little. It did prompt me to look into kiting and after lots of hours online, many on racekites which has been a huge help and convinced me to take the plunge, and here I am a new proud owner of a Beamer III 3m. Needless to say this is my first power kite so I'm unable to make any comparisons from a review point of view but I hope if there are other first timers out there reading this they will do the same as me and go for it, you won't be disappointed! I got my Beamer for £99 from powerkiteshop, order Monday lunchtime arrived Tuesday morning. The Beamer comes as a complete package which includes as snazzy rucksack (no need to mention the zip!), stake, kite killers, line tidy, basically everything you need to go out and start flying. All seem to be of a high quality to me and for the price a bargain. One thing that worried me before I decided to buy the beamer was how complicated it maybe to set up after seeing pictures with all those lines. Believe me don't worry! It's so easy to go out for the first time and get the kite in the air within 10 mins. A little research on this site will help if you do have any anxiety with setting up. Check out the 'how to' section which has a guide for beginners and how to pack your kite away. Parapacking worked for me first time I highly recommended it. You can't believe the lines won't just be like a bird nest but so far so good! The beamer is well know for being a great first kite and easy to fly, I can only echo this from my experience. I had the kite in the air and moving around the wind window the first time up without it stalling or doing anything without me telling it too. Please make sure the winds are not too strong on your first time out, the second time I took the kite out was very gusty and resulted in a black and blue thumb which was twice the size for a good week. It's so easy to dismiss the safety advice but the guys on racekites know what they are talking about, best be safe so you can go out the next day and have fun. Use your kite killers! So if you are thinking about getting into power kiting then I can't think of a better kite to do it with. The build quality seems really good, the handles are comfortable, it's easy to set up and fly but there is so much to learn you will be happy with the beamer for some time to come. Don't be tempted to go any bigger than the 4m, the 3m is plenty for me as it can lift me off the ground and has loads of pull, and you will be more than happy you took the plunge. Happy flying! After a few years with stunt kites and working across the street from Fort Lauderdale beach where they kitesurf, I have been getting the itch to kitesurf but the intimidation factor holds me back. Watched a few youtube power kite videos and got very interested in getting a power kite. Along with this forum and the Power kites forum I did much research on which kite to start out with. The Beamer kites seemed to be quite popular and I decided on the 4m. I am 6ft 210lbs. Have been out 4 sessions so far in 10-12knot winds and am having a ball! The kite comes in a nice backpack with crazy big zipper? line, handles and kite killers. Set up was very easy for my first time. First 2 sessions while I was getting used to the kite, it would randomly start spinning. It was difficult to unspin in the air and had to untwist lines. a little frustrating. found out I should move the brake lines down a notch on the bridles. That will release some brake line tension. This helped and not had a problem since. So far I am very happy with this kite as I get into this awesome sport. Need to see how it is with a little more wind. I highly recommend it for anyone starting out. By : Chefmini

WOW what can I say, what a bargain at £115!! Don't let the price put you off, because this is a quality piece of kit, It come with everything you need to get started, HQ Beamer 3 Bag HQ Beamer 3 YELLOW Kite HQ Kite Killers HQ Quad Dyneema Lines HQ Power Handles HQ Ground Stake HQ CD HQ Booklet I recently flew a Ozone Cult 4.5m kite worth £270, and I believe this Beamer III 4m fly's just as well, it handles very well being very responsive at the zenith and edge of the wind window. The quality of the kite is excellent probably on par with Ozone or Flexifoil. The bridles are sleeved, stitched and sewn and the leading edge has extra reinforcement and protection for when crashing or dragging the kite. The kite lines are good quality sleeved dyneema lines, the power handles are colour coded so you know which is left and right, and you also get a pair of kite killer. The kite is a pleasure to fly, very smooth and responsive, I use this kite mainly for buggying, and in right wind conditions and can get some serious speed and the kite has enough power for me to powerslide when braking and turning corners which is a big grin factor, oh and the kite is bright yellow what is a bonus I 100% recommend this kite, Get one! I'll start out with a little background on myself. This past February, I bought several small kites from a large chain store in the US. They were cheap kites made for kids that had a single line that I still enjoy flying when I just want to relax. About a month and a half ago I bought the HQ Bolero online, and have progressed quickly with it. I've been wanting a quad line kite for a while now but thought I should crawl before trying to walk. I finally couldn't take it anymore thinking of the quad line kites out there so I started to research for what I wanted to get. I narrowed down the choices with the specs that I wanted. The specs included quad line, durable, fun, kept up with me as my experience progressed, and a good wind range. The Good Stuff After reading a lot of reviews on this site and several others, I chose the HQ Beamer III 3.0m kite which met all my preferred specs. I took the kite out today in around 10mph winds, gusting to ~15mph. The kite took about 15 min. to get everything in order the first time. The most time consuming part was pulling the lines off the reel and getting them untangled. Following that it was to the air! This kite met all my expectations and more! Cutting through the wind gave very nice pull. I played around with what all the lines did individually and then in combinations. All the reviews and videos I watched of the kite were spot on as far as how to maneuver this style kite. The kite seemed to be very forgiving. It took several crashes into the ground, and waited to be relaunced from the inverted position. There were several times I felt I couldn't keep up with how hard the kite was pulling, so I made good use of the supplied Kite Killers. This was my first experience with those as well and I'm very pleased with how they work. I wound up loosing track of time and was outside flying it for about 2 hours non-stop. I hated to pack it up for the day but I was getting sore from all the running and sliding that the kite imposed on me. I remembered reading on this site about para packing being an easier way to pack and unpack the kite, and performed that with the kite and lines. I wanted to see just how well this method worked so I unpacked it as if I was starting on a fresh day. I was very pleased with how quickly and easily it set back up for another go with only 1 minor knot in my line. It was much quicker and I packed it back up for the day. Overall, this is a great learning kite and gives some good experience. I feel that it would have more than enough power to do kite boarding, buggy, and snow kiting. It became my favorite kite and I probably will keep it for a long time. It's definitely one I'll have with me whenever I go flying. By : harddrive

It all started a few weeks back. I was over the local park flying a cheapo kite with my daughter when this guy turned up with his yellow parachute....well that's what I thought it was. I stood there watching this guy getting pulled this way and that. He handed the handles to his mate and he was all over the place..... When I got how I did a bit of surfing on the net and behold I started my journey to the dark side of power kiting 🙂 After a further few days debating and spending hours reading reviews and stumbling accross this fantastic site I decided to buy a Beamer III. I decided to go for the 4 meter version. So, 2 days later the thing turns up..I agree with many others who have reviewed this kite...good quality, simple setup and perfect for the "beginner". When I opened out the 4 meter "beast" I thought I may have been a little ambitious...but couldnt help but have a smile on my face. Launch Day....cut a long story short the first time I tried it was far to windy and I was rushing things abit. The kite was blowing all over the place so I decided to postpone. Last Sunday I tried again....WOW...no looking back now ! I initially had some issue regarding winding up the lines from a few days back but finally hooked up the kite and was ready for launch. At first I had a few issues controlling the mother ship but within about a min I understood the controls. One thing that was apparent... I really had no idea what to expect from the "pull". It wasn't that windy but now and again it did pick up and ... WOW...it's difficult to explain but I fell like a kid with a new toy (and I'm 37!) It was a great experiance and I can't wait to venture out again...I bought a wind meter from ebay as I wanted to understand the wind speed next time round and to be mentally prepared for potentially being catapulted into the sky 🙂 I'll probably book up a lesson with my old boss...King Nad...who is also a newbie on this site....we both have the power kite bug now and I can see us spending a few quid in the future on all this power kiting stuff. Great Fun and well worth the cash.....ENJOY !! By : Lockie007
