    Dakine Storm Harness 06

Once I'd been kiting for a few months I was naturally progressing to using more and more power especially when flying static. Eventually got to the stage that I'd have to land the kite every 10min or so in decent winds to let my arms recover!

Tried on a friends Dakine Fusion, which I liked. Felt very secure wearing it with plenty of padding for distributing the force of the kite as well as protecting well in the event of crash landings! Looked out for 2nd hand ones on eBay but found that they were going for around £35(cost £80 new). Not a bad discount but then I saw a brand new Storm at my local kite shop. Tried it on and felt really comfortable.

It's a fair bit lighter weight in construction compared to the Fusion. It covers less of the body and has less padding. It doesn't compromise on quality though. The straps are very comfortable with plenty of adjustment. Being lighter weight than some harness flexibility isn't hampered as much. Especially like the convenience of simply being able to unhook the spreader bar rather than having to unstrap as with some harnesses.

    +ve points
    Cheap, even when new
    Comfortable
    Easy unhooking of spreader bar
    Doesn't restrict movement too much

    -ve points
Less coverage & padding means less protection

agree with you, it is a great and cheap harness. I would say that the only down side with the storm is that there are no straps which retain the spreader bar to dig in your stomach. I found that after few hours the spreader bar is riding up and dig in. But as an overall i recommand it to everyone.

That's abosutely true and I meant to put in something in about that. Dakine sell a spreader bar pad which I may try - not sure if it has any straps on it to retain the bar any better though?
