Well this is a relativly old model but still a beast. I recived this kite and saw the bag and started to giggle knowing what I have in my hands. The bag is nice, hold the kite and my harness comfortably, no complaints.
The kite itself...
Amazing. I have only flown Flexifoil so I don't have much to compare to. The quality of this kite is very good and all parts seem to be very strong. I bought the kite second hand and even after it has been flown before everything is still crispy. The lines seem to have a bit of wear, but over all after however many sessions this kite has already been through everything seems to be in great condition.
I have only had this kite out in 5mph inland winds that seem to be gusting a little and the wind window seems to be constantly moving as buildings and trees seem to affect the air flow. I am 6'4" and weigh 16.5 stn to give you an idea on myself. Launching the kite in the fairly light winds takes some work to get air in the foil. On lifting the kite I really need to work it side to side to get it powered up and filled with air. The kite is also fairly sluggish in turning just due to it's size and takes some concentrated effort to get it going. Once going tho, who nelly look out. It does pull like a train when low in the window and once up near the zenith my arms are stretched to the max trying to hang on to this beast.
Once my body has been dragged into position that the kite becomes comfortable to fly it is a dream. A good deal of brake input is needed to get any meaningful turns. The factory set up on the brake lines works very well as I have tryed other knots up and down the brake bridles finding that the factory knot Flexi recommends is setup very nicely and haven't move the brake lines since.
This kite is very fun to fly static as I don't have a board or buggy to play with. The lift is amazing even in the light winds. Being my size and the light winds I've been able to get easy 10ft of air with a nice gently drift to the ground.
This kite however doesn't enjoy inconsistant winds. The kite has luffed on me several times and does so quite easily with gusty winds. Once the kite luffs on me I need to work the kite side to side to fill the foil up with air as if I was launching it. And once it fills with air it takes off again with me at increadable rates.
Overall I am completely impressed with this kite. The quality is amazing and this is a super powerful kite. I absolutly DO NOT recommend this kite for beginners. It takes a good deal of effort to work it and keep it moving in light winds and it does have incredable power that you need to be able to fly on instinct to be in control with this kite.
However, if you do have the experience, want the thrill and are looking for a seriouosly good time, get this kite if you can afford it. It will be the thrill of your life. Remember tho this kite is ment to be used for lower winds and I would be scared in anything more than 15mph with what I've seen thus far.
Fly safe and happy winds.
