  1. Hi guys, sorry for long absence. Welcome to the new people! Tom, when you back from your treks? I owe you (well, your sister) a cheque, and I believe you owe me a book. I'm leaving Leeds on Thursday, for good Would love to have a last get together one evening, but now have too much stuff to pack for my year’s backpacking, and am also kiteless until I get to my parents I keep dreaming about flying my kite, it’s been about 6 weeks and I’m hankering for some flying! Fortunately the chimera is accompanying me through Asia and New Zealand. Thanks all you Leeds Kitefliers for being such good kite mates over the past months. It’s been a blast and I’ll miss you! Hopefully see you in a year’s time when I’m back. Peace.
  2. Money = reducing overdraft created by Simon. Good day yesterday. Tom and I are flying at 1:30 today. Do come and join us.
  3. The students have stopped being students and now have jobs, whereby they can no-longer just go flying when they want. Responsibility.
  4. You missed a blinder guys! All three of Simon, Tom and me got a really beating. The wind was very strong, and highlights include Simon's 15 second air that smashed him onto the ground, Tom's accidental 4 foot air from sitting position to sitting position (ouch), and my big (5 foot?) air that had me looking down at the top of the heads of the others and petrified. Lots of sore muscles tomorrow morning...yeah!
  5. Looks like Tom and I are heading up to Roundhay in an hour or so. Anyone welcome to join us of course...
  6. Sorry missed u last night Laz. Anyone up for flying later on? I feel for you Greg...
  7. Let's see what the weather's like SPLAT. Today's flying was rather mad. Started off on the new 6.5 Chimera, it is amazing! The gusts were ridiculous- I tried my 3.0 buster and it was biting very hard. The Chimera took all the gusts brilliantly, gave me some long, floaty airs (putting me down gently), but was ultimately still very scary! But it didn't collapse once, and gave fairly consistent pull. Three cheers to lazarus for getting launched 6 feet in the air out of his buggy. Your fault for flying a blade in such gusty winds. We really scared a couple of onlookers, who at first thought our antics were fun, but then they realised we were only partially in control and were heading straight for them. They ran...
  8. That sounds good to me. If it's OK, could you let me know when you're going and maybe I could pop round and grab a lift? The weather has been frustratingly changeable lately. I hope it calms down.
  9. Yeah, i had my kite all packed up in my school bag, looked like a smashing day, and then the first angel blew it's trumpet and the sky collapsed. Maybe an evening fly will be in order, if the weather improves.
  10. WOOHOO! 6.5 Chimera is now mine! Thank you Simon!
  11. Accuweather say there will be no rain and consistent 10 mph winds. I choose to believe them. U still coming over, Si? Is the picnic still on, if so what food shall I bring? hope to see you all soon.
  12. Am I thankful for the rain! Got one vaccine in each arm yesterday and can hardly lift them today! Hopefully will be better for tomorrow. Hope you guys that went up yesterday had a good time. The weather seemed perfect.
  13. Oh sorry, I remember I have an appointment and can't make it. Hope you have a good fly anyways. I'll defo be up over the weekend.
  14. Hiya greg, good to see you back. I'd be up for a trip to Roundhay. Anyone else? What time?
  15. Just wait for two years, and you'll be saying the same I'm just about to leave, should be there at 4:45 ish.
  16. Kiting later anyone?
  17. I'll give you a fiver for petrol!
  18. Anyone driving to Redcar tomorrow with space for me? The time for studying has come to an end. This is the age of kiting.
  19. I'm free! Have just handed my dissertation in, 50 pages of genius. And am now completely knackered. And I also need to start on next piece of work, due in in one week. What's the date of the picnic, Tom? I can't wait! Laz - I've decided to wait for Simon and all of his magical kites before looking into getting a blade.
  20. Going for a late one in Roundhay tonight. I'll be there at 7:30, do come.
  21. Nice one Simon, looking forward to it. Anyone kiting today?
  22. Sorry, been at home without much internet. I agree with Tom, I want a bigger kite! Would like to go second hand but have read of some horror story scams, even from this flexi website. I went down to Cornwall for a few days, and flew on Gwithian beach. The most beautiful winds I have ever flown in. As smooth as you can imagine.
  23. How did you do your shoulder this time? I feel for you man!
  24. It was a real cracker yesterday at roundhay! Some really big winds meant even my kite could lift me several feet off the floor. I met a guy called Ally who lent me his 5.5m firebee and I at last learned what birds must feel like.
  25. thurs is fine with me too, any time/place really.
