  1. If anyone's up for some snow action tomorrow, my sister and I are heading over to Cannon Hill in Huddersfield. We can give a lift! Prob leave around 1ish from uni. There will be a snowboard! Any night is cool with me for drinking/discussing.
  2. Wow, big winds today up at Roundhay. My three meter dragged me most of the length of the park! Good to see some more beginners up there. 35 mph gusts and first time flying? Brave/mental!
  3. I'm pretty much free all week to go out. Tom, you still heading up to roundhay today? Are you driving from uni? Kit
  4. No can do Paul. Tom sounds wicked mate. I'd be well up for kiting but have my SPEAK society meeting in the evening to sort out. But afterwards (say 7:30ish), yeah man. Give me a text or ring to say where you are going etc. (0774386046 seven). Sorted.
  5. Neil, about your forums idea. It sounds good, but I'm not sure if there is sufficient problem with the current format. What would be your suggestions of the different threads that could take place within the broader 'leeds flyers' forum? As far as I see it this is basically used for general banter and organising meeting up, and doesn't take too long to navigate! Well done for getting the committe sorted guys. I'd love to help but am already pres of another one and am looking forward to the break when the committee changes over! But I'm happy to share ideas. Kit
  6. Hi Jay, yes I'll be up there Saturday afternoon, weather permitting. Would be good to hook up. Kit
  7. The weather's awful today, no wind and grey skies. Grrrrr.
  8. Chris - Redcar sounds wicked, thanks for the offer. However, I've just arranged a meeting for lunch time, so can't come
  9. Thanks for working at the union Tom! There's so much beaurocracy attached to being a union club/soc, I sometimes think it's not worth it... Then they give us money, and recognition, and I realise that yes it is. We'd blatently be a club, but Seb's a decent guy so I try to work with him. Anyway, yes Wed sounds good to me provided the weather's OK. You call before 1 'early morning'?! Oh for being a first year again! K
  10. I'll be up there, hopefully half eleven ish. See you guys around!
  11. Oh, hello Cat! Didn't get round to saying hello back. Wack a post up at half term and we'll be pleased to meet you!
  12. Tom - thanks for helping me get untangled last night! The pond is very close to where we were kiting. Between there and the Pub just up the road. Look on a map mate! I'm totally knackered and have done far too much kiting lately, but if the wind's up tomorrow I'll be there! I'd be well up for getting involved in a kiting society, but am already president of another one (SPEAK: luucu.com/speak), so won't be on the exec!
  13. I've just found out one of my mates is into kiting, and hope to take her up to Roundhay tomorrow, weather permitting. If anyone's up for going, do come along. Hiya Jason, Roudhay is quite a large park, with a lake, and ample room for kiting. There are trees surrounding, but there's enough clear space for that not to be a problem. Only problem is you're not strictly allowed any wheels, so if a warden comes you'll get a telling off! Here's a map: http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=433000.999999788&Y=439000.952305764&width=700&height=400&gride=432959.999999788&gridn=439237.952305764&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=GB&addr1=&addr2=Roundhay+Park&addr3=Leeds&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&zm=0&out.x=7&out.y=5&scale=10000 It's right next to 'tropical world', which is signposted. Don't have any plans for the weekend, but I'm open to persuasion. Tides are a bit nasty, so Redcar is probably out. Kit
  14. Wow! What an awesome session! Roundhay had a thin covering of snow, and to start off with there was no rain or snow in the air. I pulled my kite up and started shooting along the ground really really fast! It was more like skiing than skudding! Several races of over a couple of hundred metres followed by laborious dragging back of the kite ensued until I was too exhausted, the kite too sodden, the snowfall to heavy and the wind too strong and gusty to go on. I even managed some (accidental as usual) 'snow airs'. I need to do that again!
  15. Snow? Wooooo! I'm up there!
  16. Welcome back Maria! Hard luck about no internet connection...very frustrating. I'll be up to Roundhay this morning, bit of wind and the sky's clear at the mo. I think Siriol has some free T-shirts, if there are any left! I'm up for flying any day this week if others are going.
  17. What a day...mental! I agree with Paul about the highlight being getting a huge amount of power with my little 3m buster, and some pretty big airs. I was just glad I had two people weighing me down! Caramboo, nightmare about the van. Hope it gets sorted, somehow. Was there any wind out Roundhay?
  18. Thanks very much
  19. As far as I know, Lazarus, Chris B and I are off to Redcar.
  20. I agree with you Lazarus! Don't waste the first year studying unless you have too. I don't know how hard your course is Haven't heard from Maria...she's prob busy revising. Paul, get yourself to the beach! Tho it's easy for me to say that, since I've got a total of zero exams left. Freedom, lovely freedom!
  21. Hi Caramboo! Love to join you, but have an exam in half an hour! Spook - I'm heading up to Roundhay STRAIGHT after the exam, you're welcome to join me. That'll be about 12 ish. Chris - thanks for the offer mate. See you tomorrow morning. Could you pm me your number in case I get lost or anything up in otley? Thank you one and all! K
  22. I think I'll head up to Roundhay for some chilled-out flying later today, maybe 2 o'clock, if anyone fancies it. Recar would be wicked this w/end. Do you have any room in your car, Chris?
  23. Too much rain, too much wind and too much revision! Sorry!
  24. Hey Tom, how about tomorrow? It's set to be sunny and about 20 mph of wind, which will drop off for the rest of the week.
  25. Had completely forgotten about the t-shirts I've contacted Siriol! Would love to go out today but ache too much and have too much work to do Had a quick look on weather forecast (http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?world=18&links) and Wednesday looks like a possibility for another session.
