  1. that's the one. either cross the river at low tide or park in Newton (just east of Porthcawl) and walk along the beach. Looks like no wind anyway this weekend, so not sure its worth it. Aberavon gets a better angle with the NE predicted.
  2. Another one to try is Porthcawl beach, to the west of Ogmore. You have to trek for 10mins past the rocks, but if you've got the tide out you'll have nearly a mile of perfect sand, with no other bugg**s spoiling your wind (I don't hate other buggiers, but I'm a bit new and like the beach to myself to avoid crashes...). And if the wind is a bit more S or SE you get a better reach. I might be there this weekend, so might see you there. Dave ps if anyone else frequents this beach, I apologise in advance for any damage caused, and gracefully accept your sympathy for the self-trauma inflicted upon my tattered body. Kite-surfing has to hurt less..
