  1. Bloody brill - cheers mate !
  2. Greetings I was searching through the forums last night checking out all the sweet places in egypt to go to for a two week kiting mission, when i came across someone mentioning a website that did really cheap flights to egypt. Being a dumb ass, i didn't take note of the site - and now for the life of me i can't seem to find it again. I've tried all sorts of search strings using this forums searching capabilities.... I swear it was something like: http://www.cheapredseadeals.com ... or www. redseadeals.com... or www. redseacheapdeals.... (Obviously none of those buggers work) Anyone know what site i'm talking of or have the url for me? Cheers guys Giles PS: I'm off to Ras Sudr, Ramada... anyone been there or hear anything ? I'm hoping for away from chaos, chilled atmosphere with plentsh wind
  3. Cheers Guys I've been riding for a couple of years now and quite happily put myself in the top end of the intermediate category. Having said that i'm still learning the ropes in wave riding and landing some of my jumps. The Naish TT i have is just too small, and try as i might it's a consistant battle to go upwind. Get onto my old board, and going upwind is breeze - allowing me to concerntrate on my tricks more. (Unfortunately the board is mine no longer !) I was thinking the Naish was just a bit too small and narrow. (Hate to say it, but i only rode it once before i brought it - and i was sold on the colour design ) I'm really not after the latest, greatest, but have heard such good reviews. Is it all just marketing ??? Clearly if your **** hot it's great - but i'm not quite **** hot yet Thanks for the comments so far. Cheers Giles
  4. Hi there Guys I've recently been travelling a bit, and haven't had the cash to update my kiteboard for a while. I'm currently riding an old Naish TT 143 (2003) ... (i think - i can't seem to find it's exact spec lately, as it's not even on the naish website anymore). I never really got into this board, and prefer riding my previous board which was a short custom made twin tip from Oz. My bird is currently kiting on it, and i can't get it back, so am looking to upgrade. I was quite interested in the AH Pro Board that came out last year, but didn't have the time or cash to buy it. I now see that a newer version - the AH Pro Board 2005 has come out. Basically, simple question : how does this board rate in the latest scheme of things? Is it as good as the marketing makes it out to be? I'm off to Egypt for two week kiting next week, and ideally would like to take a new board with me. Do you think the AH Pro Boards are any good ? Is there much difference between the 2004 and 2005 versions? (ie: do i have to pay an extra £200 and get this years model, when i can pick up last years second hand for around £290) Any help in the board dilema would be great. Cheers Giles PS : It doesn't necessarily have to be a AH Pro Board ....any other suggestions ?
  5. I've been flying kites for about 3 years. Started out on a flexifoil blade 7.2 and then went onto my first ILE - a 16m X2. Sure, they're easy to fly on land, and easy to fly on water - when the conditions are right ... but drop that kite in difficult conditions and you're pomped ! You'll then spend the next couple of months/years (depending on how ofter you fly) not fully comitting yourself to tricks and jumps coz you're worried about and thinking about the last time you dropped the kite and it took you 30mins to get it off the water again. Ask yourself .... do you want to be seen with a kewl high aspect ratio kite, or would you rather really really dig your flying and have TOTAL enjoyment in your learning curve. Take your time mate.... enjoy the learning process. Kites like the areo may not have the glam factor, but jeaso.... what fun to fly. More fun means more enjoyment, means more confidence, means more tricks/better skills, means more fun !!!
  6. any one ridden one of these ?
  7. Hi guys I know the strike is a pretty new kite, but was wondering if anyone who has flow on one of them could give me some size advice. I've been riding an 16m X2 for the past year - and didn't really enjoy it. When performing new tricks, and dropping the x2, it was such a blodoy hassel to get it off the water again. So i'm opting for something a little easier to fly, and hopefully way more fun. I see that the strike's sizes don't go to the 'way big 22's that the naish kites go to. Is this just because it's new on the market and will get to those bigger kites later, or are they rated on a different size altogether. The 16m was big and i didn't fly it much over 24kts. I've quite heavy (90kgs) so was wondering what size would be similar in the strike. Most reviews i've read seem to have been guys flying them on slightly smaller kites. (7, 11) Having just come over from Australia, i'm also not too sure what the summer months hold wind strength wise. Would it be better to go for a larger kite in the summer months ??? Any help would be appreciated? Regards Giles
