using jbingham pic what about keeping the front wheel in front of the pilot and puting him in a kind of capsule/faring thingy? to help with the aerodynamics. This could also include the front wheel. Then the windward wheel could be vertical and the downwind wheel raked in. If my cad skills were as good as andyc then i'd draw it but i have trouble drawing curved bits of wire at the mo. BTW i use TurboCAD is that any good?

would the wind not be coming from the other side?

Perhaps they could be slightly diagonal ie arse on the windward side but feet still in the centre. although it wouldn't be as aero dynamic they would be faced more towards the kite to aid control or they could be facing directly forwards with pulleys just in front of them to route the kite lines?

see your point just thinking if your weights over the upwind wheel it will make sure its on the ground as soon as it's unloaded thats a 3rd of your ground contact gone so the buggys more likely to slide.

If there was some kind of mechanical extention of the steering then the pilot could be more in a sailing position just in fron of the rear wheel.

what about a method where the pilot/rider can move to the opposite side of the buggy to the kite to balance the side pull like in sailing. Sailors don't sit in the middle they get there arses over the far edge as much as pos. Advantages of making it light means you can put the balast where you want and move it from one side to the other. problem is all this would make turning at the end of the run a nightmare but i'm sure that wouldn't matter. Just a thought

By using Capt Slog method the error is around 0.1% where as by using Mr J method the error is 1.5% This means that in 1Km the distance using the first method could be wrong by 1m where as using the second method this could be wrong by 15m. Over several hundred miles the inacuracy soon addeds up. But then if your gonna be that picky then buy a GPS

I find measuring the circumference by drawing a line on the ground the easiest. Plus you get less error in your measurement than by measuring the radius/diameter. But by introducing error you could get a faster reading than you should (perhaps that’s how some people get good max speeds

I'm interested in getting a harness as I'm finding my arms are getting knackered. I've been on the Dakine website and they don't have the speed seat but they have the Storm is this any good? Do they come with a spreader bar or which is the best to get? Where is the best place to get it? Thanks

If you pulled the buggy backwards (ie attached a V rope to the back axle) the buggy would steer itself?
