  1. Thanks for the advice. Went out on Sunday and set up with all 4 lines the same length. First impression was that there is more drag on the brakes (not sure if this is more due to extra weight or extra thickness), but there really wasn't enough wind to do a fair test. My instinct is that in stronger winds, this drag will be less significant - I'll report back when I know! Ian.
  2. Just got 2 pairs of 40m Hydro lines for my Blade II 4.9 in preparation for the ski season (no more headaches trying to untangle white lines on white snow, yeah!). But I have a problem setting them up (4 line handle setup) - with the lines I fly with at the moment (the ones that came with the kite), the brake lines are quite a bit shorter than the main lines, cause the bridle line for the brakes is quite a bit longer than that for the mainlines. So what should I do with my Hydro lines, Should I cut the brake lines down? If so by how much - I can't find anything on the Flexifoil website or in the manual. Of course I could measure the difference between the existing brakelines and mainlines, but I'd really like to get a second opinion before I start chopping them (they aint cheap!). Also, if do cut them down, is it going to cause problems if I decide to use a control bar this winter instead of handles? Anyone else wish Flexifoil would provide a bit more technical info? Thanks, Ian.
  3. Thanks for the advice, folks. This is what happened: we bought a Blade II 3.0, my girlfriend can now fly for more than 30 seconds without being blown over, and I use it when it's really windy, or I want to show off (it's a lot snappier turning etc.). Pretty much perfect! Ian.
  4. I'm trying to work out what size of kite would be best for my girlfriend. My Blade II 4.9 gives her too much air for comfort in conditions that I find fairly calm. She's almost as strong as me, so I figured this comes down to body weight (She weighs 55-60% of what I do). Initially I did the obvious math (60% or 4.9 = 2.94) and thought aha! Blade II 3.0. Then I looked at the variety of posts on calculating force generated by kites, particularly: http://www.flexifoil.com/community/...48420#post48420 which throws a few more variables into the equation (L = Cl * A * r * .5 * V * V) So my question: Will the two Blade II's have the same coefficient of lift, and will the smaller one fly faster due to less drag, producing more lift? Of has anyone been through this before, and can give me a subjective answer? Thanks, Ian.
