  1. Cheers JoeSchmoe What about the degree to which the deck 'pivots' (ie the heel toe action ) on the trucks..? do you know what i mean?!!
  2. Can someone give me a quick explanation about the pro's and con's of a 'stiff' board versus a 'flexi' board please ? Thanking you kindly...
  3. Thanks V much Rasga You've been a great help. J.
  4. Rasga..just clicked.. The direction I move in will depend on which side on the window my kite is stationed..with the wind at my back, and the kite on the left hand side of the window, i will move left [simply put] - move the kite round to the right of the window...and i will move right.. I suppose my original question should have said " how do i go in both directions " ! I've been called blonde a few times...
  5. NIce 1 Rasga. The wind picture that you sent: imagine the guy is on a board...he will basically go 'back and forth' along the cross wind line - at an angle of 20-30 degrees downwind - an and what angle upwind ? I do get it - honest...perhaps I am trying to be too technical ! But please give me an answer to this question ! Cheers
  6. Rasga : I don't get it? Sorry ! I know I got it wrong - Upwind is the opposite of downwind...I dont really understand how it works? Do you generally go slower upwind? Is it all about 'friction' ? Do I need to change my angle to the wind when going upwind? cheers guys.
  7. Thanks very much everyone. Some very useful tips for me to try. I am just about to checkout the KiteATB website to try and understand toeside - sounds interesting. Having said that..practice is probably what I need. Nice 1.
  8. Ok.. I'm new to this. And I f******g love it ! Got a Blade 2 4.9, and I am getting to grips going 'forwards' (excuse my lack of lingo!) on my ATB...without a kite I can pop air..turn sharp...probably from a few years of snowboarding... But when I come back up the beach (downwind???)....ie with my 'weak' foot forward..I remind myself of of Scooby Doo on roller skates... Any tips ?
  9. yep its official. lost the plot completely...!
  10. Yo Glen... Looking at trees? I'm sat at my desk this afternoon looking out the window at trees, grass, litter moving in the gutter....even the flight of the birds !! Bezerk..I tell you... Nice tip Rocket by the way.
  11. Cheers for the replies guys !! Appreciate it ! I gotta say that I have been into everything since I was born..but I have yet to come across a sport (? is it a sport? who cares !!) where the practitioners are so friendly, helpful, encouraging etc. And no..I am not an ass bandit either ....! BTW Bellblade - nice bag....give me 18 months and I won't be far off - that is if the nice man in the brown suit at the bank believes me when I say I have an extra income 'off the books, like, so pleeeeeeeeeeease authorise the 2 grand loan' !'! Now bring on the bumps....!
  12. Apologies for the analagy ! Just v excited about what i am leting myself in for.. Pendine is a must. Is the kiting ban lifted there now?
  13. I would just like to introduce myself to everyone using this forum ! Just got a Super 10 after being given a Stacker 6, which got pinched after 2 weeks ! Tried a slingshot, an ozone, a razor and a blade this weekend - I have to say CHEERS to whoever you are (HUGH was one of you ! Swansea Bay - 19th July) for giving me a go. My missus enjoyed too ! her chin has been surgically re-attached now !! OH MY GOD !!! How quick can you get hooked on something ??? Its worse than crack (I can only imagine !). I want I want I want... Soon to be selling specialized mountain bikes and other treasured goods. And to think I used to long for 'fair' weather...
  14. jedi: very similiar situation to you recently. Got given a stacker 6 - then it was pinched within weeks (along with my sound system!). as I was hooked instantly, I went and bought a Super 10 two weeks ago. Since then, it was only this last weekend that we have had any decent wind (S Wales). In the meantime, a couple of really nice kiters whom I met on the beach gave me a go on:- Slingshot (dont know the name - v small) - it was awesome - pulled my 13stone in a very light breeze. I have heard bad things about this kite, but I thought it was wicked. Ozone - WOW - very stable and a very nice constant power. Razor - SHEESH -I wish I could afford one. Took me 150 meters within seconds. Probably something for down the line... Blade II 4.9 - I bit of a letdown after all the hype from my research. Only because it was more difficult to turn than I imagined. Having said that, I am a (fast learning) beginner. And I am saving up for...A Blade 4.9 !!! My advice - pick up a cheap super 10 or Proteam 8 second hand- both great fun - but be prepared to be bored quickly as soon as someone gives you a go of their traction kite whilst out on a lovely summer's day !
