    Australia

Just got back from a 6 month stint in Oz. OMG the place trully rocks !!!! Did queensland, NSW and Viccy but didnt get out to Perth where I here it really rocks !!!!!!!!!!!! Listen man - the snakes in QLD are for real, as are the spiders and the stingers....but where u r going the only real danger is the swell, the rip and , oh yes, the white sharks. 2 surfers got nobbled whilst I was there. One in Bells Beach (famous break) and once about 6 hours east of Perth (6 hours to ozzies is like just up the road !). I used a 11m fuel the whole time. At first the winds hadnt kicked in and i longed for a bigger kite but all of a sudden it blew 20-25knots every day for 3 months - East Coast. Noosa, Surfers Paradise, Coolum, Brisbane, Bowen - all a bit far up from where u r going though. Met loads who said WA is where its at so u should be just fine n dandy. I think you are gonna have the time of your life dude. If you can squeeze in a trip to Byron bay though (northern NSW) - do it. It is Utopia. There is also a place called Merimbula which is about 7 hours east of Melbourne wher ethey have the annual kite jam (cant remember what the comp is called) but if you want to kitesurf lagoons, rivers that lead to 4 foot glass swells in eveery direction possible, go there !). you can pull up in a camper van right by the water where there are showers and free BBQs so its heaven. Campsites everywhere too - range form 15 bucks to 30 bucks where u r going. All right on the coast. DO the great ocean road - its spectacular. Free BBQs are everywhere you go by the way - so stock up in COLES or WOOLWORTHS with lots of squid, lobster, flathead and coral cod, get on the Coopers pale ale, the tooeys New, VB, or Little Creatures (DO NOT ASK FOR FOSTERS!!) and live the dream man... Its definitely colder where u r going and a 3mm shortie might be better tbh - although compared to what u r used to it will be paradise. i got a friend near Melbourne who knows all the spots so lemme know if you want me to give him your email. [edit just read the posts above so u got a got ozzie contact in Matt - use his offer !) Remember these sayings "Can 'a VB maaaate" "schooner" not pint. "Good on ya". "Rock up" (turn up) And of course...Roll a Rizla Bro !! njoy bro.

    help me

  7. god you really are a muppet aren't ya.....
  8. I use the joyrider fanatic 120cm and i absolutely love it... I am 6ft3 and weigh in at 13stone...so iam no waif - but it does perform better when powered up (ie 18mph+ winds on 11m fuel). Bigger board - lighter winds for me (134 slingshot Doyle SX). weight got very little to do with what size board u should use imho. its more the wind + kite combo that will dictate what works well. smaller boards tend to hold an edge better when powered up in my experience, (but that can depend on the shape of the board as well), whereas larger boards should get you planing sooner - but some short boards out there work equally as well. it is fair to try and match a board to your dimensions i suppose...but at the end of the day you just gotta get your kit together and get out till you get it dialled...
  9. mate - its both the board, teh kite and the wind strength that you gotta think about. I am the same stamp as you and learnt on a 16m boxer kite, a 142 twin tip, and found that 15-18mph was the best wind to learn in as there was enough to get going but it was never too hairy. This kit did me proud for the 1st year no worries, and still use the board in lighter winds alongside a 120cm joyrider and my trusty 11m fuel when the wind hits 18+mph. Be safe dude and make sure you got the things that make learning so much easier like an impact vest and a 5th line set up for relaunching. Good luck !
  10. ahhhhhhhh hahahhahahahaha hahahahaha hahahah ahahahahahah like eeeeeeeet !
  11. WELL FOR WHAT ITS WORTH.. I'm not sponsored ... but I should be. I am dashing, handsome, honest, intelligent and funny. I just need to learn kiteloops, rotations, transitions, riding toeside, and handlepasses. Oh and a water start without getting wet. any takers?
  12. now now. that could be construed as taking advantage of a kind gesture :D but if anyone has a 12m BOW they want to offload - I'm your man !! LOL:p seriously though - if we spread some love, maybe the manufacturers will soak some up and then the mark up on the new ION won't be so great that few of us can actually afoord to buy one
  13. Timmy2000 beats Marky G to the bar by a whisker ! I dunno about this now - I feel awfully guilty that you lost out Marky - sorry dude.... BUt its gone to a good home - Timmy has sorted his m8 out with a kite but, alas, no bar. So we can all sleep well tonight.
  14. as good a kite as it is, its like 5 years old dude so forget about selling it ! Give it to one of your mates as a gift or donate it to somebody who is desperate but doesn't have cash ! Karma is a beautiful thing you know... Hey - thats an idea for a thread - DONATED KIT TO THOSE IN NEED Whatcha reckon ADMIN ? I got an old NAISH 4 line bar thats FREE to 1st person to pm me - £10 P&P UK WIde.

    Charlie

My deepest sympathies to the Family and friends of 'Charlie'. My thoughts are with you all.
  16. stone 1. To pelt, beat, or kill with stones. "And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." (Acts vii. 59) 2. To make like stone; to harden. "O perjured woman! thou dost stone my heart." (Shak) 3.Stoner - he who spends his days slouched on the couch in front of Trish with a big bag of crisps, a snickers bar, 5 cans of coke, 3 ice creams, a packet of 12 mini doughnuts, mcvities digestive biscuits, and a banana 'cos its healthy. 4. Sharon Stone - a fit old bird who flashes her mini for cash hope that helps
  17. "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!" I think i'm in love
  18. i may be mistaken but i am sure the rhino doesn't fly without the 5th line set up
  19. hey Reggie PM me if you are going back as I would be up for it. where did u park ??
  20. hey - nothing wrong with a good pumping session sorry - couldn't resist ;-) the old ones are the best anyway !
  21. cheers dude. Think the racer is the updated version of the alpha. sounds ok then in this baltic weather we are having...
  22. Hey guys n gals any of you sue a drysuit, specifically the Typhoon XTS Racer ?? Be grateful for your views (its advertised as suitable for 'most' surface sports..what the hell is that supposed to mean?? !!) TY :-)
  23. Hey y'all On Tuesday the 8th august, I depart for Australia for 6 months !! Woohoo! Have hired a motorhome, so the world (ie country) is my oyster, to coin a phrase. Planning on Cairns to Sydney first, and then around the S - SW depending on how many months left. Any experience of Oz?? Wind conditions for the time of year (their spring / summer). Good spots ? Sharks? Crocs? Snakes? Spiders? I may have to sacrifice my quiver and go with 1 kite - which I am think to be a Fuel 11m (as I couldnt splash out on a BOW which would have been ideal I suppose) and my joyrider 120 - so I would need 15kts plus to get going. Also staying in Singapore, Malaysia and Bali - so an insight into kitesurfing there would be useful. cheers all Jofster !!
  24. you work in the day Mad MArky Mark??? Cos there has been some seriously stupid days the last couple on months !!!! honest man - too windy ay times I kid you not !!! But bloody cold with it !!! My pisser is that generally it dies on the weekend - so if like me you have to work iknow where u r coming from. u r sheltered in bristol to be fair...much more local wind scenarios can occur regardless of forecasts around the gower and rest of sw wales i think....
