  1. Hey, at least it is an honest attempt to provide advice. Which is a little more than you are doing here. but you've still got a point. rjw, you mixed up the theory in the last bit about the 6s and 10s. If the 6 has a lower aspect ratio, it should (given no other variables) fly slower across the window with greater stability. Whether this is the case in actuality, I have no idea, having flown neither of these kites.
  2. ATTENTION DOG LOVERS / DOG HATERS / LOGIC PROOF POSTERS (ahem!) RANTING LIMIT REACHED!
  3. Sorry all, but I can't let poorly deduced logic stand unchallenged. :)Only irresponsible owners let their dogs off the lead :)If a responsible owner lets his dog off the lead, he then becomes irresponsible. :)However some irresponbible owners may leave their dogs on the lead. What do we take away from this? You can't always tell who the real *******s are!
  4. hampshirelass wrote: Now you really have piqued my interest. How long were the lines? With really long lines, do you sacrifice control for power? I've never seen xtra long lines for sale anywhere & I assumed that there was a reason for it. I'd love to hear more 'bout this - sounds like a great way to power up a high wind kite for a much boader range:cool:
  5. Rasga, thanks for the pics, the aqua is nice, much better than I would have expected
  6. Does the 6.6 cover a great range of winds. I am really looking for a kite that will give me the power (and height in jumps) that my 3.0 lacks in most of the wind conditions here
  7. SHoppin' for my next kite & trying to decide between the 6.6 and the 8.5. Based on what I've seen in the forum, the 8.5 would better match the wind conditions i get in Beijing. But the colors look so d*mn drab. Does anyone have any pics of the gold 8.5?
  8. The good news is you are not parlyzed:) Able to fly another day:cool:
  9. There's a kite in the 4 sale forum for 100: http://www.flexifoil.com/community/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18477 I can't say one way or another if it's worth the $$ though, as it could be quite a headache repairing it.

Ahh, the color I had hoped for! Thanks for the effort! Now, I just need to find a place that has them in stock...any suggestions?

Anyone have pics of the green Blade iii 6.6? Does it look cool?
  12. Definitely the best advice, though when you are windstarved it really takes alot of willpower;)
  13. It all started out like a usual Saturday (if there is wind)... Flying my blade when wind wind dead. I went through the routine of waiting, cursing, then finally packing up my kite. The sky's color changed from grey to a sickly yellow. There was no way I was going to get wet in the approaching storm if there was no wind. As I was winding the last few coils of line, the winds blew... Not to miss an opportinty to catch some air, I quickly unpacked my kite and launched it. I told myself, it can't be that dangerous as I'm 15+ stone and it's only a blade 3... After a few small airs, the winds kicked in in full-definitely gale force. Not to be daunted, I tried to maximize my airs, though carefully, high in the window. In the middle of what felt like a 6-10 foot jump, the wind pulled the kite into the middle of the window,. I rose anoth five feet in less than a second and I still could not move the kite. The winds power wasn't subsiding and I was still rising at an incredible rate, and approaching a line of trees, so I pussed. Dropped one handle which, becasue of the tension, sprang and wrapped itself around the taught line in my right hand. The kite held its shape, though fell out of the center of the window. About 10 feet in front of the trees (I still cant beleive that I covered that much distance!) I dropped the second handle and fell (probably about 15 feet). Still alive, and in once piece though pretty beaten up, I write this warning to all of those who underestimate the power and unpredictability of high winds. When I found the kite, miraculously, it was unharmed. Though after the storm passed I did spend a good hour getting one of the handles out of a tree. A question for all you experts - if this situation does ever arise again (as it probably will) how do you get the kite out of the middle of the window in high winds?
  14. By the way, what's the definition of gutted in the UK?
  15. Jersey guy, I from Connecticut and I've heard of (but not met) others who fly powerkites. In SF, where I bought my kite, there's quite a community. However, I now live in China and though everyone here flys kites, no one has ever seen a foil-let alone a foreigner jumping on one. So for kiting questions & info, I too have to use the forums. Thank god for the internet...
