I have a pal, (it really really isn't me.) who wants to go to America, but has suffered from mental illness. Does anyone know if he needs special permission to go visit the US or can he just turn up, passport in hand? I'm sure i heard somewhere that you need more than just passport. Seeing as fairly needlessly picking people's posts apart when they're simply reflecting their valid opinions seems to be a general theme all of a sudden, I presume by your own argument that as long as the SS guards are frequently shown to be stupid, bigotted and naive, then that would be OK? Although I'm a little mystified how we've gone from Carol Thatcher to things such as genocide! What's worse? 'needlessly picking peoples posts apart' or 'needlessly picking peoples posts apart' even if they think it's the wrong the to do? lol! And going form Carol Thatcher to such things as genocide is part of general conversations. ie, topics expand and contract. lol, consider your post well and truly picked.

As a kid, I & other kids used to collect Golliwogs from Robertson marmalade jars. We were collecting them before we ever saw a black man and no thoughts ever occurred to us that this could be insulting or, derogatory or evil. There was a time when many people were used as slaves (it still goes on in places) and many folks thought there was nowt wrong with it. That was then, this is now and it's obviously no longer acceptable. Same goes for language and sensibilties. That was then, this is now.
