  1. A strop is also what some of the less tolerant contributors get into just before they instruct you to "search the forum" I do not subscribe to that particular view point A strop can also connect a bar to a harness. Can be bought or made (using a suitable length of approriate cord/rope/string/etc).
  2. I fly my 4.9m on my own all the time - but not out of choice. My friends are not into it and my bird is agrophobic unless the temp is up in the 90's. The problem i've had is getting from my stake to my landed kite. Not a problem in lightish wind - a quick 30 m jog, a few handfuls of sand and bobs your uncle. However in strong winds I've noticed that the bottom edge can get blow up by the wind causing the kite to flip over. you then are in the unenvialble position of having consideralbe tension in the brake lines and an upside down kite i.e. the kite will now fly backwards all on its own!! The only way round this (for me) was to haul my kite in using the brake lines and sort the resulting mess out at home. Ive only done it once. If its blowing I'm not going (on my own anyway). Hope this helps
  3. Andy V - a good point well made. I had the same problem not too long ago. Within a few weeks I was aware of most of the features, etc. If you don't want to read a thread (cos its been covered) don't click on it's link. It's not exactly the science for putting people in space is it? If you do, why not include a link to the "how do I search the forum" thread which could've been created in the time spent on instructing people to search the forum. Not being arsy with anyone here - it's just when you are a newb logging into the forum is like being a kid in sweet shop. So many questions, so many knowledgable people but not the know how of how to tap into the knowledge base efficiently
