  1. I was initially looking at getting a new kite quiver to replace a Titan 12.5m. Now the wind range of the speed is huge, price isn't a major issue so I was saying if I got Venoms I would require 2 to keep a similar wind range as one speed. Obviously it been two kites would have a greater wind range than one speed. But I was also looking at flying styles, turning power, jumps and hangtimes and for that I can see no real completion to the speed anymore this also couples with the fact I own a titan 12.5m. All this has more or less swung me the FS way cos I know what I am getting. Now the only choice which remains is the 7m or 10m and if I really need the extra bottom end and dont mind losing a bit of top end.
  2. Lol, I am pretty much sold the Speed way now, Sorry all you venom users!! The quality of the Titan is what I like the most I am also familiar with fs brand and know what I am getting, also seen some of the vids of the speed on foilzone. The power through turns, the jumps and the speed of turns is incredible for a foil. Still deciding about which kite to go for being up north, think 10m would see me through most of autumn and spring. In the summer the 10m and the flydoor would see me out before most others I expect. Deff keeping the titan 12.5 till I am a level kite boarding in which I can use the speed. May allow myself the purchase of a speed 10m though to use low wind land boarding soon.
  3. Thanks for all your help guys here is now what I am thinking of doing; I am going to keep my Titan 12.5m probably till autumn or at least till i have the skill to use the speed on the water. In the mean time however, i think i will look at purchasing a 7m Speed for landboarding with the eventual aim of selling the titan and moving onto water with the speed when the titan is sold. Then maybe spring to summer next year when the wind starts to drop down again look at getting a 13m speed or a bigger board probably a flydoor. Maybe a 7m speed and a flydoor would be enough low end on the water, i think a 7m would be more than enough on land. The alternative I think would be instead of the eventual Speed 7m and 13m quiver just to get a 10m speed Autumn time ish or maybe before and hope the wind range would be big enough on it and sell the titan when i am comfortable on the water with it. Either way I now think I am sold the FS way.
  4. Thanks guys, so the general consensus is the speeds now the one other thing i have been unable to decide on is the choice between the 7m and the 10m the difference in bottom end wind range is 1knt is this accurate if so i would happily go for the 7m as it is cheaper. Bearing in mind I weigh 70kg and currently use a Slingshot 147 twin tip. I originally bought the titan second hand to get started with de-powerable foils. I can fly it to a reasonable level but when the wind picks up find it to be fun but a handful in gusty inland conditions. This is my other worry is the speed any good with gusty conditions as I need a kite that can do it all, landboarding in gusty conditions and kitesurfing in clean(ish) winds. Thanks for your help guys
  5. Hi all, I have been trying to decide between a quiver of Venoms (16m and 10m) or a Speed 10m. I am now appealing for help!! I give up!! I really can’t decide between the two. I am just beginning to kitesurf and already kite landboard. I currently own a Titan 12.5m, which I like, but I do find a handful on a landboard. The Things I like about both; The venoms + Stable in the air and in gusty inland conditions + Auto Zenith now I like that!! + Price - Solo launch looks a bit dodgy - Re-launch on water looks very dodgy Speed 10m + Stable not sure about gusty conditions + Relaunch - Price - My ability Level (always found titan a handful) So now please help me!! lol. I like the overall price of the Venoms and their insane stability for when I mess up. But on the other hand I like Flysurfers for their quality, flying style and looks. Thanks Guys!!
  6. I have recently come home (to Bradford) from Salford Uni and have been trying to find sites to fly nearby. So far the only suitable place i have found is baildon moor tried a few others but they are useless. So was wondering if there are any groups of people flying anywhere in or around bradford or if anyone knows any good flying sites nearby. Cheers Guys
  7. Bit off topic I am an aerospace engineer and can tell you it costs hundreds of thousands of pounds to build and run an accurate wind tunnel. Obviously has been money well spent on the speed. Can't wait till I get my 10m Speed!!
  8. I started off with a 4.9m Blade 3 and have been flying her for a year I have now added a 12.5 meter FS Titan and Slingshot drake board to my bag, (plan to change to 10m speed). By some peoples reasoning these are huge jumps. However, before you pass judgment on me. Before I purchased my 4.9 Blade 3; - I read loads of reviews and how to guide in power kiting (so i knew what i was doing, and what to expect). -I also got BBB insurance. I have never had an accident few scrapes but come on who hasn't. I am very careful where I fly and my surroundings. I have never hurt / tried show off to people (cos u can guarantee something will go wrong). I suppose my point is this through applying common sense and generally reading up on things before you buy them it is possible to start on large kites. In the end of the day if the user hurts themselves they have no one to blame but themselves. If they hurt someone else as someone said in a earlier post there are so many personal injury layers about these days they will be made to feel very sorry, if worse still happens they may not see the light of day for a long time. At the end of the day you may manage to regulate shops but what about the second hand market?? In the end of the day through applying common sense I have saved a lot of money in not growing out of kites and equipment and have also improved my flying skills quickly. As a side note I land board and kiteboard. As a funny add in; I purchased the 12.5m titan an insanely powerful kite from man who had been sold it with no prior power kiting experience from a very competent active kitesurfer, without any warning as to what the kite was like. An absolute disgrace!!
  9. Was just out today on Salford playing fields. Winds were 16mph gusting to 29mph with by Blade 3 4.9m and a 'friend'. Set up the kite when the wind must of been at a lul because i made the mistake of thinking it wasn't that windy!! Got the kite up in the air and was doing some low sweeping passes with my m8 holding onto the back of my harness. Suddenly one huge gust of wind caught the kite when i was sending it up to the zenith. At this point my 'friend' thought i was ok and let go of the harness, i shot upwards about 2m!! landed on my face and was then dragged, on my face another 30m (no exageration) before i could work the saftey!! Ow Result: A lot of skin missing down my side, a huge bruise on my head but luckily nothing else. Oh and to never trust the 'friend' again. lol
  10. Hi I have a blade 3 4.9m and wanted to look at putting a crossover kit on it to have faster turning rates with a bar. Is it possible to still fit a third saftey line so that a kite killer can be used. I don't use this feature often, but it is conforting with a blade to know it is there lol!! Cheers.
