  1. Hi all, I'm planning a trip to Perth and the West Coast in general in December / January. Any idea about good spots? We first want to travel a bit north from Perth. Is there any kite action around Lancelin or Two Rocks? After that we want to travel south and around the SW corner of AUS to Esperance. There might be plenty of spots along that coast. Perhaps someone can give me a hint what the best ones are? And which kite sizes would you pack? With 83kg I have 7 / 9 / 12. Can only take two with me... What are the winds like over xmas? 7 / 9 or 9 / 12? Thanks for your help. Cheers, Peter
  2. For sale is my 2009 Cabrinha Crossbow 13. Good condition, one bigger professional repair. I can send you photos for more details. Bought it used myself and had it for one season. Didn't use it very often due to busy schedule... It has brilliant low end power and hang time. Comes complete with bar. I add in a brand new and not installed IDS depower line (coated in plastic) and the IDS override stopper. Includes kite, bar and lines, bag, additional IDS line and IDS override stopper. NO PUMP! $775 or send an email with your offer. Pick up (St Kilda, Melbourne VIC) or by mail (additional $25)
  3. @.Joel What's the weight of this bag!!!! 4 kites! 2 boards! And all your other stuff... My problem was that I had only 30kg in total. And moving to a new country required more than just 2 T-shirts and a board short P
  4. Thanks for the help. Will give it a try during the next session - hopefully this weekend In general it's just really strange that I have these problems. Would consider myself as an advanced kiter (4-5 years experience) and with my old kites (1. generation Xbow 9 and Contra Bow 14) I never had any problems. Even the 9sqm 2010 Switchblade which I had for a few session didn't show this behaviour. It's just the 12sqm model I'm struggling with. And it's really strange that the kite in 14-16kn winds doesn't even start 'crawling' to one side once it sits on the front tube and I rotate the bar... Best, Peter
  5. I just made the move and arrived here in mid Nov The bad news is that DHL lost my entire kite equipment on the way to Melbourne... the only thing that survived was the board which I took with me on the plane. I took off the fins and straps to save weight so I needed them new as well now. I think the board - as long it is not a surfboard type - is no problem on the plane. I used Qantas btw. The board is just 3kg and comes out of your lagguage allowance. So if you want to take your kites with you on the plane as well the board is not adding much to the overall weight. Perhaps this helps. Enjoy Peter
  6. Hi there, I'm wondering if anybody else here is riding a Switchblade from 2010. I have the 12sqm model right now. Had the 9sqm for some time as well but not any longer. What's bothering me is the relaunch of the SB. Even in conditions with plenty of wind to ride comfortable once you are on your board I really struggle to get the kite out of the water. In conditions with lots of wind things get easier but when it's around 14-16kn it's really tricky and in about 60% of the situations not possible at all. This is of course not the most encouraging thing and so the fun to try new stuff goes missing because you always think about a potential swim back to the beach... I guess I'm not doing anything fundamentally wrong. Kite drops - sit's on the front edge down wind - I rotate the bar 90 degrees - try to help the kite further by pulling the already shortened line further. The main problem is that the kite doesn't crawl sideways to the edge of the window. Sometimes the extra pull on the line helps and the kite gets into the relaunch position but far down in the power zone. At least it starts there even with a lot of power but better than a swim Had the first generation of Crossbow and Contra (the bow version) and both were a lot easier to relaunch. So any ideas from other SB riders? Thanks for your help Peter
  7. Wow! That's a very detailed list! Thanks for your contribution. One week to go. Have a nice xmas break everybody Best, P
  8. Hi everybody, I just moved from UK to Melbourne and during the xmas break I will travel along the coast to Sydney. Can anybody give me some hints about good spots along the coast in SE VIC? I'm more after flat water spots. Is there anything around Lakes Entrance or Mallacoota for example? Thanks for sharing your wisdom Bets, Peter
  9. Perhaps I can add a few more questions to this thread... I'm in the process of moving to Melbourne as well. Jobwise contracts are signed and now I wait for the visa paperwork... So if everything goes to plan we should fly out from London beginning of November. Just in time for the summer It looks like a few of you moved from UK to AUS as well. Perhaps you can give me some tipps how to get the kitesurf stuff down there. So far I looked into international shipping companies as Seven Seas or similar. Takes min 14 days but the price for a golf bag is ok. Any other ideas? As I saw airlines don't offer 'sports equipment' fares as we have on short distance flights across Europe. The airlines I found so far charge per kg which adds up to quite a high price. Thanks for your help. Peter
