Hey dude, I've felt the pain of what your experiencing too as we all do at some point in the early stages.
I learnt to get going just by doing some homework, watching videos on youtube, looking at information on all the kite sites I can find
and simply putting all that into practical experiments and walla! You get to grips with it eventually.
Getting down to the coast for the beaches can be a bit of a pain for me not being a driver, so I fly inland where and when i can, i live between Mold and Holywell and can also throw you a hand if needed.
What gear you flying/riding?
You on depower of some form or fixed bridle foils?
If your kite can handle some gusts, then just take it out in low wind conditions (just enough to get you going). Only need your local football field and see what you can achieve from that taking it step by step (that is, if you can't make it to hook up with Karen here sometime)
