  9. My mate and I have sailed at Poole all over the winter. It will be no problem parking there if you either arrive on the Sat eve or early Sun (say before 10am) and it won't be very busy as the cold weather of late has reduced numbers significantly. High water is 7.40am, you'll be able to sail until just after 12 midday
  10. My holiday to Nyali beach going 14th has just been cancelled by the tour operator due to the ongoing political situation. I've rebooked for the 28th. Anybody else affected... and do you have any insider news of what the situation is in Mombasa? Natalie of Pro Surf reckons everything is fine at the hotel / beach - just seems getting there is difficult! She said the hotel had run out of wine - which frankly is no issue at their wine is dreadful! I'm more concerned on whether it's safe to get the taxi to the local supermarket to buy some decent stuff! Also does anyone know an insurance company that will give cover when the fco advise against going - seems most insurances are invalid in this situation
  11. Thanks, very helpful to hear others are there and a) having a good time & b) safe!
  12. Does anyone have any insight / contacts into going to Nyali beach, kenya at the mo. The foreign office recommend essential travel only but Pro-surf (site on beach) have said the only problem is the hotel run out of wine (and that's not a problem as the wine is so bad!). I'm scheduled to go next week and my travel agent says they are still flying into Mombassa and taking holiday makers! Any news...?

  16. Although I'm not familiar with the WW kitesurd scene I do belong to HKSA at Hayling and it was good to see Chris Bull asking everyone coming onto the beach if they had insurance this last Sunday. However, in light of the incident at WW it's pertinent to ask if this is enough? I'm concerned at how many people walk along the beach at Hayling with their dogs etc.. and stand only feet away from kitesurfers launching, landing, etc.. their kites - hardly to be recommended,- and there were alot of beginners on the beach that day - ripe for uncontrolled events! Perhaps we should be more pro-active and put signs up to advise people of recommended "safe" distances?
