Hey all, I've got 2 kites here, a Flexifoil Blade IV 4.9m and an 8.5m. Reluctantly considering to sell them due to a recent injury which means I'll be out of the game for awhile. Both are in fantastic condition. With a set of lines + handles + killers included with each. They've never been wet and have been looked after very well and haven't been thrashed around. I don't think I need to give much of a description for the characteristics of the Blade Blade IV 4.9m: £180 Blade IV 8.5m: £220 http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m85/drm111/20130919_183003.jpg~original PM with any questions etc. I'm happy to meet anyone half way for collection.

I assume that was directed to me BigE? I can't really get a photo of the bridle as, well the kites huge and I parapack, so I'd have to unpack it at a field and there aren't any nearby. I'm pretty confident the AAA adjuster is fine though. Where abouts do you normally fly? -

Alrighty I will do, thanks I think he means just generally dust off the Bego, not to compare it to the Blade -
Blade IV 8.5m - Why won't it stop BACKSTALLING?!?!?!

Hey all, thanks for all the responses I'm almost certain that the line tension isn't the issue, the brake lines can be completely slack and it'll still happen. And the windspeed was 10-14mph as I said (confirmed by a windmeter) and there wasn't any lulls in the wind so that can't be the issue either surely? BigE/gresh, that's awesome of you guys, I'll keep an eye on the weather for a good day to go down (will 99% be on a weekend, and the coming weekend is looking abit weak on the forecast) But if one/both of you could pop down to help me out that'd be amazing, hopefully get a decent session afterwards as well. Will have to grab you a pint or something for helping out haha -

Hey Stu, I don't doubt for a second it worked perfectly when you had it, I'm not at all suggesting you've sent me a duff kite or anything like that, I apologise if it's came off that way! I have taken the lines off completely and stared at the bridles and gone over everything pretty carefully, its entirely possible I've still missed something but I just can't for the life of me see what it is. Like I said when it's on the weakest AoA setting, it flies fine (as it was set on the time I got it flying after the tangle) But even bumping the knot up by one causes it to be quite a pain to launch and it'll fly fine when its gone some forward momentum but god does it love to backstall, and when it starts to backstall theres not really any hope in recovering, it'll go all the way back to the floor no matter what and then its another fight to get it launch again. I haven't even bothered to try it on the liftiest AoA setting! I don't even think it'd get off the ground to be honest. As I said Stu I'm not blaming you at all, its definitely something I'm doing it's just frustrating because I can't figure out what in earth it is. Unfortunately I don't have anyone nearby that could come help out (that I know of). ...This may be a stretch, but does any one have a photo of the Blade IV 8.5 bridle? Specifically around the line connections... Maybe that would help me out. Thanks guys! -
Hey all, I recently bought an 8.5m Blade IV off this forum and while it's been okay, it only really flies if the AoA adjuster is set to the weakest/least lifty setting. If I move it up even to the default position, it backstalls like crazy. It's not the brakes, they're slack. But it's weird if you try to launch it'll go up abit but then there will be 3 creases going along the kite from tip to tip and it just won't fly. But the main lines will still be very taught. There's no tangles, the bridles aren't caught on anything, the crossover bridle is set on the least setting. If you REALLY yank the kite up, it'll get going forward and will be fine until it stops moving and will then backstall again. Can someone help me out before I chuck the kite in the bin? P.S The wind speeds this was happening in was 10mph-14mph pretty constant.

Had another session with the kite again today, went much smoother, unpacked and ready to go in about 20 seconds. Wind was abit higher, 10mph-14mph. I learnt a few things on this session: 1. I'm not as fearless as I used to be, infact I'm a massive wuss really. Was too scared to turn it! 2. After using my windmeter I realised 14mph is a lot more than I thought it was. 3. My 4.9m looks like a toy next to this thing. http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m85/drm111/20130919_183003.jpg~original

Yeah Chaos, suprisingly that does make sense to me! I'm sure I could have sorted it without detaching the lines by tucking the foil through the bridles but it took about 10 seconds after disconnecting the lines! I'm quite glad I'm not the only one... I thought I had broke it! I think the line that you're describing is the same one I had troubles with! Can anyone explain the adjustments on the crossover to me? Which one is the faster turn rate? Is there a negative to putting it on the faster turn rate?

I just came back from my first session with it, it was a bit of a disaster really (but not for the reasons you're all thinking!) Firstly, I'm a parapacker, I've always parapacked my kites, every time, for the past 6 or so years, I resent any other method, and (obviously its not an actual problem, I'm just stupid) the kite came with the lines wound around the handles. Long story short I dropped the handles while unwinding them and had to spend the next hour untangling lines. I actually think this was a blessing in disguise as I checked the wind as soon as I got there and it was ~10mph with gusts to ~16mph... By the time I finished untangling the lines, the wind was down to ~8mph and a rare gust to ~12mph. Next problem was, the kite flew like a dog, I mean really really bad. I was absolutely heart broken with how badly it flew. One side really struggled to inflate, it kept backstalling, but eventually it'd get going and fly okay and it looked 100% okay in the air, just it had absolutely no power. Zero. Honestly I was quite distraught and I kept landing the kite and inspecting it all over and I couldn't find anything wrong, kept relaunching, same deal. After about 10 minutes of this, I put the kite down, laid it completely flat, and stared at it, and I realised I was missing something, something that is actually really difficult to spot when it's on the floor as I'm sure anyone with an 8.5m Blade will know. The crossover bridle was going around the outside of all the main bridles on the left hand side, and through the middle of the main and brake bridles on the right hand side. So it was just a simple case of disconnecting the lines and putting everything how it should be. I know the seller definitely didn't give me the kite in that way, I think what must have happened was I rolled the kite inside out and around while unpacking/unrolling it, and as I've never owned a kite with a crossover bridle, I would have never thought to check (and of course I was riding a wave of excitement induced stupidity due to getting a new kite). After all that was sorted, the wind was honestly down to 4mph-6mph according to my wind meter, could barely feel the wind, I was a bit gutted but figured I might as well try it anyway. And well with a bit of work it actually flew. Quite well actually, and it managed to drag me around, it fell out the sky twice when it went too far out the window and the wind completely dropped but I was mega impressed. All in all, I think all the delays worked out for the best as I got my first session in very low winds that still worked out well Can't wait to get it out into 10mph-ish winds now!

Thanks mate Just going to echo everyone else about Stu, gave lots of info and was quick to reply etc, banging deal and the kite looks great and got some free sand as well! Haha

Haha tbf I'm putting an offer down on some ones 6.5 IV anyway so The reason the Venom drove me mad is because, on the ground level at the field I use the most the wind was abit swirly, so the venom would flap all over the place, invert, bowtie, explode etc. So unless I had someone with me it was nigh impossible for me to get it right. Once it was in the air it was fine, or if someone was with me to hold it steady it was also fine. But the take off was a murder-rage inducing nightmare when I was on my own so I just never bothered. Yeah I think I'll be limiting the 8.5m to 10mph to be honest, its alot bigger than expected haha. Should be a lot of fun though once I get to grips with it.
