  1. is hill head a good site? how far away is it from pompey? Jay
  2. cubik, would be great to meet another kitesurfer down there, going on my own last year sucked big time screaming to myself when i landed my first jump, looking round to see an empty sea and beach! i'd be really grateful for any lift round there, need to see some other kitesurfers desperately trying to improve! i'll be there as of this friday so let me know good luck with the move! mat, im glad something is being set up i was going stick a sign up of my own saying "ring me if you kitesurf"! i've got an older kite i mite let other "experienced kite flyers" have a go on if interested. at least a 3rd of my student loan is allocated to kites each year! thinking about an 8m for those high wind days and mayb replace this old 12m. cubik might have had that 11 off you if it was a month later:( Jay
  3. hey mat, im at pompey uni going into my second year now, have you got any kitesurfers in mix? Hoping for someone to go out with, self launching on shingle doesn't do the kites much good! when i went it was off the beach by the RM barracks/museum, would love to get round to hayling island but having no transport at uni is a bit of a bummer! Could anyone tell me the cheapest way to get from pompey to Hayling Island? Jay
  4. I used to have this problem with my harness when i was wearing tight board shorts under my wetsuit. And i know how you feel its unbearable! I found by wearing much looser shorts and pulling my wetsuit up and pulling through a bit of wetsuit to the groin area things didnt get squashed! good luck James
  5. many thanks ......... i'll check em out J
  6. wanting to find some wind websites i know of xcweather, metcheck and windguru any others please?
  7. think variable aspect ratio means the aspect ratio is different depending on which size kite you buy from the range.
  8. I've been offered a '04 12m and 16m nemesis, im 10 stone on a 120, would this be a good kite quiver for me? I know very little about best and this particular kite cept its high ar, i've read the build quality of bests' kites is questionable, is this true? regards J
  9. I am only a beginner myself, but i had a Slingshot Dimis Twin 165 and my friend had a North Robo 140, we both prefered to learn on his. If I was starting again i'd want a smaller board from the off as i've just had to go through the hassle of selling my board and buying a smaller one when I don't think the extra length helped me to learn at all. Or if you want a longer board you could try and build you own depending how adept at DIY you are, cheap option could cost ya as little as £30 lots of websites about on it. A project im planning for the summer. J
  10. I'm around 10 stone and just about keeping my ground and on good days making a little. I learnt on a 12m Takoon Akooba and a 15m Peter Lynn Guerilla(a friends), I now also own a 18m Naish x2(which i haven't had the chance to fly). I've just read that an 18m needs nearly just as much wind to fly as a 16m and is aimed at heavier riders, is this true? At present I can only afford a 2 kite quiver, what would you suggest to buy? I live in essex during the summer and portsmouth during term time, I think i'd like to get a 12m and a 15/16?!??!?!?! Regards Jay
