  13. @ Matt, If you pm your email address, I'll send you pics of the board. It's in good condition - no breaks/splits on the fins, excellent condition footpads, etc. Will measure the width and let you know. The helmet is a medium - fits size 56-57 cm (includes pads, so can be made bigger if necessary). This is in excellent condition too - the inside and straps are as new. The outside has just a couple of tiny cosmetic marks. It's never been used in a collision.
  14. 8m now sold, subject to pick-up. Anyone interested in the 12m? The board is good too...

I'm looking for £350 for the 12m and £300 for the 8m, as they're both in mint condition and only out of the bag a couple of times. Open to sensible offers, though! Does no-one want the balaclava??!!

  22. Hey Treeboy - bugger, we've been rumbled! Yes it was us. We might be back down in a couple of weeks, but my mate's from NL, though, so she won't be there (so no LEI with us either). She's going to try it next on holiday abroad, so unless someone's got a big suitcase.... We could tell you were keen - no wetsuit at this time of year!! Has your brother got his system on the front or back line, by the way? Also, how important is a stopper ring? She got her kit second hand and we're gonna rebuild her bar for her, so any little hints would be useful to say the least! The thing I find strange is that when we first introduced her to kites, she had 3 days of professional lessons and they didn't cover this stuff....
  23. It's a Wipika 8.9 freeair. No 5th line. The line didn't actually have a stopper on it, so the bar was free to go as far up as the kite. It sounds like you're describing what happened - it may have been that it did work properly and once it landed it was depowered, but she wasn't expecting any tug at all. She's going to practice in shallow water before she takes it out next time - we'd practiced pulling the safety with her before this, but only on the ARC - the thinking being that the release was identical on both set-ups, but not taking the behaviour of the kite into account (silly now, I realise). The knife was missing on her harness. She's already bought a new one. Good points for beginners to really be careful of their kit before they fly, though, especially if buying second hand....
  24. CoyoteBoy - Apologies for the random post, but I just have to say.... ... what the f*** have you done to that cat? The expression is priceless - I'd have a similar look on my face if my owner (not that I have one! ) put a melon on my head... That's the best avatar I've ever seen!! :D Now where did I put that pumpkin???
  25. This might be a bit of a daft question, but I'm an ARC user (not looking for an argument here!) and I was out this weekend with a newbie friend on a LEI. She was on the same safety system as us - one front line attached to a leash on the chicken loop with a double ring system to let the bar ride up and depower the whole kite. Now, when I release this on my ARC, the whole thing flaps out like a luminous caterpillar and flops gently on the water (looks quite cute, actually:p ). Obviously I understand that an LEI will keep it's shape to some extent, but when my friend pulled her safety in anger, it ditched and then started spiralling. It wasn't properly powered up (obviously), but it was still tugging enough to scare her and it was definitely out of control, seeing as she couldn't reach the bar any more to stop the spin. She even ended up with her ankle somehow caught in one of the lines for a moment. So the question is, is this normal for an LEI? She likes the kite, but is now considering selling it for a foil, simply because of the safety. We spoke to some more experienced LEI flyers on the beach and they had it set up the same way and said it should work. So has anyone got any advice?..... Does it work better on the steering line, for example?? She's going to test the safety again (not in anger) in a couple of weeks, so some tips would be welcomed. thanks!
