destroyer Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Heading to el gouna next week for a 2 weeks, has anyone done the trips to tawila island? Is it worth the trip or is mangroovy beach a better allround location, anyone on here gona be in elgouna next week? Quote
mainkmain Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Done the Tawila trip twice and it rocks. The first time there was just me and the instructors and the second time there was about 8 of us. I think it cost about 35 euros and that included some food and drink whilst there. It gives you a good chance to ride in off shore conditions and someone is probably likely to take some good close ups if you ask. It's worth going once near the start and if you don't like it you can stay at Mangroovy. However that could end up quite busy. Quote
destroyer Posted June 17, 2008 Author Report Posted June 17, 2008 quite keen to give it a go this year as i missed out last year, red sea zone are doing a deal at the min, storage + rescue for 2 weeks and 3 trips to tawila for 100 euros, sounds like a bargin Quote
GSter Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Tawila is the dogs....better than Red Sea zone beach location (lots of coral and often very crowded). The Red Sea Zone boat is OK, but a little slow. The downwinder on the way back is worth a try Quote
xdavemarshallx Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Deffinatly go if the forcast is good. We went to El Gouna last May (unluckily we only has 2 days of wind out of 7). We payed up to go to Tawila but annoyingly there was no wind. Managed to get up and running very briefly on a skim and a 16m......but was struggling! The island is lush. If the wind is up you can kite either in the lagoon or out on the open sea - you can even tack upwind and go round the island through the lagoon entrance. They take a rib with them too so you are safe wherever you kite. There were dolphins around too. Red Sea Zone are great. The food on the boat was good and there was plenty of cool soft drinks available. They took a decent camera with them in a watercase so they could get photos of us all.....unfortunatly with the lack of wind, they wern't very exciting! When we got back to the mainland they put all the photos they had taken, along with a few others they had taken when we were kiting at mongroovy, onto a cd for us to take away for free. I'll dig oput the CD later an upload a couple of pics.......when you see the clear water, sandy beach and blue skies it will make your decision easier!! Quote
