Does'nt matter which year you get, you will get parts easy enough. Most beetles after about 1970ish look very similar so it's what you do with it that will make it surf. Buy a volksworld mag and you will see loads of ideas. Don't expect to get one cheap even without MOT. A camper would be pimper and room for kit.

68's are most sort after... similarly with the campers

You should PIMP it though... just take it back to original... the re-sale value will be far higher, especially if the work is done well

Pimp My Ride ruins cars imo... have a nice original colour... they were mainly pastel shades, but beetles were a bit more extreme

WTF is with the bucket seats in that one? its not a racing car... and why you need stupidly sized speakers i'l never know

You could always buy a wreck and then buy a beach buggy kit, go for aroun 2.5k and will give you a really nice pimp mobile:rolleyes: like the one on the Phones 4 U advert... u know the weird guy

If he got them re-trimmed in purple I recon it'd look AWESOME.

As for the speakers they're not stupidly big? A sub and a twp 6x9's? Though would have been better to move them somewhere not so close the sub for best sound quality!

But in real life it is sweeeet!

I owned two Beetles back in the very late 60's.

They were both cr@p.

If I remember rightly they had 1600 cc engines and heavy on fuel.

The heater seemed to blow smelly exhaust in when the mechanical flaps were frozen up.

I drove to England once from Switzerland and it was the most uncomfortable car journey I ever made.

One of them also had major mechanical problems. After the 2nd Beetle I vowed never to buy another one & I didn't.

I did buy a VW camper van that I drove up into the Arctic Circle from Switzerland once. That was OK.

I don't know why people raved about Beetles because as far as I was concerned the were just a PIA.

Its sounds ideal, buy an old beetle and do it up....

but i hope you or your parents have got deep pockets or own a garage with a bodyshop cause doing beetles up is and expansive game!

pimping stuff aint cheap for example....

a good spray job will set ya back £1500 plus (if no bodywork needs doing)...if you want a complete coulor change or fancy colour even more! (think £3k and more)

start to add up all the other things and it can get well expensive
