tiny_clanger Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 redownload it from here -http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp and run the installer? Also, check your security settings on your antivirus, as sometimes these can block applets. Quote
Lolage Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 In firefox: Tools>Options>Content>Enable Java ? Quote

In firefox: Tools>Options>Content>Enable Java ? i did both of those yesterday to no avail it now decides to close firefox completely everytime i open a page with a java app Quote
kinny Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Mines the same bertie, and im on firefox too. It wont load any applets and on certain java pages it dies a death. Been lke this for a few weeks now! Quote
daltocs Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Are any of you using the noscript plugin for firefox? that blocks most of the java/flash stuff on websites until you allow them. Look for a blue "S" in a white circle in the bottom right of the browser. Quote
The Geoff Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Remember Java and JavaScript are different things - you might have installed one and tried to play with the other? Quote

Polymerase Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 Firstly try this website and see if it's installed correctly: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre&try=1 If not: Download and install (MAKE SURE YOU'VE GOT ADMIN RIGHTS): http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=18713 Reboot. Try the first step again. If it still fails it's either your firewall blocking java from sending/recieving or its not in the classpath. I'd assume it's the former as you say you get the applet 'starting' in the lower right. Quote

Polymerase Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 it did. now if i try to open the page it closes firefox all together! Odd... It shouldn't close FF.... So it's installed and deteted correctly, which leads to the belief that its your firewall that's blocking it. Either the windows one or you've one on your router. Or as tiny_clanger mentioned its your anti-virus system stopping them from running. In which case try disabling it and checking if it works. Summary, Try: 1) Firewall (disable). 2) Antivirus (disable). 3) Try with IE and make sure the jre is the latest version. After each one check to see if you still have the problem. Edit: I'd also run a quick check with adaware and spybot just to make sure there's nothing nasty on your system. HijackThis will give you a full list of all programs running. Quote
