rprince Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Hi guys, not posted on here in ages so long I had to register as a new member! Anyway, got a little question which I need some help with. I own a 13m Peter Lynn Bomba which I havent flown very much but am hoping to get out and use a bit more. I was wondersing if anyone knows the 'recommended' wind range to use it in? Im aware its depowerable increasing its versitility in terms of wind range. Any help would be great thanks, seems ages since I last flew it. Richard Quote
crut Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 I was flying a 13m venom and it only got good on the water at about 25mph. I assume that as the bomba is a similar beast, it'll require about the same. Quote
The Flyin Scotsman Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Hey Ric 8-) As a rough guide until someone comes back with a more experianced viewpoint you're looking at anything from 8mph to 18mph to start with until you get used to it again, It'll be easier and nicer to fly in anything about 12mph, and when you get used to it you should be ok using it in up to 25mph'ish. (On Land) Anyone feel free to add/alter what i've said. And for reference, Rics about 9-10stone and has flown fixed power for a while now. Quote
rprince Posted May 15, 2007 Author Report Posted May 15, 2007 cheers kev, just couldnt remember what the wind range was, doesnt say in the instructions Quote
crut Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Ok, I'm 15 stone and gave you my personal rating for water Quote
kitesurfa Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 check my signature and enter your weight into the ARC wind range guide Quote
angus8ken Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 the bomba wont have nearly the same top end as the venom so i would be cautous of the windrange crut described. i suggest windrange on the water should probably be around the 15-25mph range for average rider weight Quote
triton Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Hi All, this is my first post, I have been Buggying with a buster & 2 Arcs since April Went to HP on Sat afternoon, wind 15 - 26 mph SE trouble was I couldnt inflate the Bomba 13m it was just flapping & twisting down wind but not inflating, I guessed it was too windy & put it away. I got the 3m buster out & could berley hang on to it. I tried the Bomba again with the same results, I am under the impression that the bomba has a wind range of 15- 20 mph, my question is how do you inflate the beast when its flapping like a Banshee ? Or did I whimp out? Quote
Roland Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 my question is how do you inflate the beast when its flapping like a Banshee ? Hold the inflation port open, if you just leave it the wind has a nasty habbit of blowing it closed.... Quote
Neptune Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 and because it has the inflate zip in the middle of the kite wait a little for it to back-fill Quote
reecey Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Hi rprince, you might find what you are looking for here. http://www.kite-surf.com/userreviews/list_reviews.php?Products_Index=1190&Companies_Index=11 Triton, if your flying your Peter Lynn on the beach then you should have no trouble inflating your kite BUT if your flying inland then turbulance from trees/buildings can cause your kite to twist. It looks like a big dicky bow. Quote
rprince Posted February 1, 2009 Author Report Posted February 1, 2009 cheers but the kite has long since gone! Quote
reecey Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Just saw the date on your original post.oops, still the website is handy to keep. Quote
gjpidgeon Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 If you are thinking about using it on the water then you should get a big flat board like a Spleene Door or Slingshot Glide or similar. Otherwise the I think the low end on that thing at 15 stone is not going to be good. Quote
