yes my local site too has powerlines and a strange wind phenonmen, where you can only fly in certain directions..and the wind stops above 20'

don;t really know wheather its safe or not, but a guy flies ozone kites alot there and he sucksss big time,,i mean,, he is ****e!! Should i fly there too? i dont know..the ozone guy reckons its ok but i just dont know?

sounds really closed in-hence the lumpy poo wind, and if there'spower lines around obviously a no no.

wot about grinding along them????? cos i'd imagine it would be that whole idea of a bird sitting on the powerline just with a mountain board

Good idea, aslong as your high enough you wont be grounded I guess..

I wonder if you landed on your ass, would the flames fly out of there instead of your knees as it would be the first point to be grounded?

obviously you have no clue what high voltage does to a human body.

you ever wonder why the skin splits on kids who get a belt from ****in about with train tracks?

nevermind, go have your fun, spose it makes it more EXTREME!!!! right?

If I remember correctly?:o The lowest voltage carried by overhead powerlines across country (fields) is 44,000 Volts. Cattle have been known to have been killed just by standing in close proximity to the poles in wet conditions. (Cattle are more prone than we are).

So if your kite hits these with you still hanging on chances are you will die.

And if the lines are residential overhead lines, these carry 415 volts, which is still a lot.

But remember that it's not nessecerally the volts that kill you it's the current(amps). And it only takes milliamps to stop your heart (can't remember the exact figure:rolleyes: ) If you short cables coming directly from a substation (415 V) the short circuit current can be as high as 16,000 amps.

Why don't they still show the cheesy 70's public info film of a kid flying a kite into powerlines.

But hey, if you have a death wish then go for it.

*YAWNS*

You bored as well then Crob?

;)

This is a serious thread with serious questions.... how dare you!

I must admit, I am impressed at the way everyone has responded with such great spirit. I'm not sure why but the knees of fire tale did amuse me deeply. It might be quite an interesting trade-off to board under powerlines but with the odd lick of flame from the knee region...

Perhaps a new trick? Board off knee flame backloop?

OOOO

It'd look a bit snazzy if performed at night...

Right, that's it, you've convinced me Crob. I'm off to find the nearest set of powerlines, and perhaps a pylon or two.
