I've certainly not turned my back on Halo, but I do know what you mean when get a bit better and start getting thrown in with super efficient hyper killing machines that know every weapon and every map, seem to be bulletproof, and are only 9 years old. 'Mute player' is a good option here, I find. Unfortunately it doesn't stop them blowing your face off repeatedly. What bugs me most are the players that obviously set up a new GT with zero rank and experience but are obviously masters of it, just so they can slaughter everyone and walk away victorious. Quote

I need more practice but don't get the time to do it,catch 22 im afraid. I seem to be struggling with the melee attack at the minute. I run straight at someone firing and hitting him he does the same,i melee first ,hear the thud,he steps back then wastes me and im like,wtf.Seemed to be happening all the time yesterday,very,very frustrating. I didn't think it was. I know GRAW 2 has co-op options but they aren't playing through the actual game. Is COD3 playing through the game? Quote

I get that too, but I think there is an optimum distance from where to melee - if you're touching, it's not as good as slightly back. Also if he does it at the same time as you, you block each other. I also get it a lot with swords, and there is definately an optimum 'lung attack' point with them. Be ****ed if I can call on it though when i need to . Quote

They're not doing that. It's Bungie's stupid ranking system. Basically, it all works on your skill and not your rank or experience points. So, if you pay Lone Wolves to death and get upto Skill 50 and then start to play Team Slayer it will put your skill level back at 1 and you will be in playing with all the privates and corporals. So technically, it's not their fault, but the fault of a lazy game designer who didn't bother to think about that. It happens to me - I'm a major with a skill of 36 and I started playing Team Objective with a skill of 1 and my team just cleaned up for several rounds until I got bored Apparently, it will be fixed in a future patch so that players are put together on experience and not skill. The melee attack is also flawed. It doesn't matter who hits who first if you both go for the melee within a certain time frame. Whoever has the most energy will always win the melee attack. If you can get a couple of bursts at the head and then go for the melee you should win it. Quote

I'm only just starting to the the hang of them, but they really are god for a finisher. The other guy can't kill you if you've run round a bend. Quote

kinny Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 the melee system is rumoured to be being sorted in the next patch due anytime and thus reverted to like halo 2 so the first blow landed gets the kill (assuming the opponent is weak enough and not carrying an overshield ) Seems daft giving the kill to whoever has the most energy even if there up to a second later melee'ing - think i read somewhere that bungie did it different with halo 3 to get over the lag and host advantage issues and try to make it a fairer playing field but from the complaints in bungie.net it didnt seem to work! Should be back online tonight or tmrw at ther latest. Quote
