I fly there most weekends - but it's REALLY wet at the moment on the flatter areas - but it's fairly dry on the mine working bits which is a laugh.

Good from both Ne & NW directions depending where you kite in the park.

no restrictions , apart from common sense and loads of places to park , but it is a pay and display.

Mid week it's really quiet , just the odd dog walker.

Enjoy!!

Best in N-E as this open up most of the area.

N-W is do able, BUT beware you tend to be on the Liegh side so winds get very lumpy/turbulent unless in light winds.

Beware of the gliders, they have permission to fly so have presedence over us.

If westerly not an issue as they fly on a slope we can not use.

If N-E then beware as the N slope which is good is there landing zone.

South is ok for static flying in ligt to mid winds, as wind comes through a small vally so spills out to side when it opens up causing loads of vortexes.

Need to be looking for around 10-12 mph on forecasts, which will give around 15 up top, beware this is NOT a site to be flying in high winds power up, as it is covered in bomb holes, gulleys etc plus in all winds other than NE-E space is limited.

Also beware flat areas are also limited, this is a site for riding slopes which unless you are comfortable with will punish you as you become very powered up very quickly, plus when you direct for a jump kite goes in a differnt direction to when jumping on the flat so will twist you in te air meaning landings are different as well.

So no room for long runs it is more of a terrain riding area, using the features.

Ground conditions?

Very wet at present on the few flat areas. 50% of slopes are also very wet due to the dips/bomb holes etc, so you find your self riding along fine then suddnly hitting soft/wet stuff where you will sink and stop and wipe out.

I tend to use it as a summer site where the light winds, mean that up top it is spot on, plus is drier.

Went up to have a look on Sunday, winds forcasting 15/18mph XC were showing 20/25 at nearst ground station. Really wind speed up top with my meter was showing 25-42

Totaly unsuitable for the terrain.

Parking please park on the designated areas, not on te gras liek some tw@ts do in theri "4x4" trying to look cool, all you do is damage the grass which means it stays wetter longer, it is illegale to drive off road anyway, and also you greatly reduce the areas you have in which to fly.

Good site in certain conditions, but unfortunatly limited in when those conditions are.

the hills and terrain are the best bits - but like jon says it is super wet at the moment and your board tends to dig in whilst you carry on moving which isnt great!! i'd leave it a while to dry out and save the petrol if i were you.;)
