THE SPASM Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 OK. Ive been pulling jumps for a while. Started doing grabs and trying rotations. but I dont feel like my jumping technique is right. I always come down real hard. What i am not sure about is when to release the bar. at the mo I pull the bar in hard at 12 o clock. then when i start to decend I pull the kite back again. At this point I always seem to releace the bar and then pull in again just before i hit the sea. Should I have the bar pulled fully in all the time whilst i am in the air? Quote
paulie_amoose Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 Stay sheeted in if you want to float down dude..... Just remember to redirect to give yourself enough power to ride away.. Quote
sym170 Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 well yes, especially with that waroo. sometimes if i get whipped up in a gust with my venom2 13, i naturally let go of the bar and fall hard. keep the bar held in for float really. Quote
THE SPASM Posted December 11, 2006 Author Report Posted December 11, 2006 So just to check. noone releases the bar at any point whilst in the air? Dont know why i do. Feel like im swinging round the kite too much. Quote
Dan Wilson Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 i just keep bar in for the whole time im in the air but i've heard that some people let the bar out while in air then pull in just before they land to get super floaty landings. Quote
conor Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 i let my bar out a bit while in the air the pull it back in when i re direct Quote
Enders13 Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 I sheet in when I take off but then with one hand off the bar (hooked in) I'm sheeted out all the way down and just re-directing 4 feet or so before the landing. Different strokes? I fly C Quote
doggy Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 i keep sheeted in the whole time until landing, then let out when i hit the water, this normally produces soft landings and letting the bar out when landing allows you to edge and slow down a bit if you are rocketing down wind Quote
kiteingcolin Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 You must get the feel, you can feel the weight through the bar, its all a matter of feel, the more you jump with feel, the more you feel the power pulses, in gusty winds the bar needs to be adjusted quite a lot whilst in the air, even pulling in again to gain more height in a gust, sometimes pulling in 2 or 3 times, depending on descent rate depends on the need to pull in again to soften the landing, and if you are trying to land with forward speed then things change yet again, if you want to land with speed , redirecting aggressively early to land on the plane with forward speed is the ticket Quote
