Normally wouldnt ask - but I have vague memories of something about having to be a member to kite at ainsdale - I'll go away and check it out - cheers for the replies tho.

I only said that because we have alot of representatives from there on here mate.

you do need a permit, valid BKSA insurance and you need to be a member of the club. not to mention the riding boundries - if you sail past the ranger center - we all get banned.

Hey JDC. I live in haresfinch in st helens. Where about r u? I can get up to ainsdale in 40 mins or if it southerly i can get to blackpool in about an hour traffic depending. I guess u will be the same

Im next to Saints ground - 5 mins from the East Lancs - so Im guessing thats 25 minutes to the beach for me http://community.flexifoil.com/images/icons/king.gif. Who'd have guessed St Helens was a hotbed for kitesurfers? Would be good to hook up if we get some windy days.

fleetwood is good on anything from a west to an east, there is a sandbank about a mile out and before the tide comes over it, the water is really flat, then you get a few hours of waves and then when the tide is going out, it flattens off again, i'm usually out there at the weekend and its also good for landboarding!:)

Guys - cheers for the replies - probably wont bother over christmas cos ainsdale just seems like a bit too much hassle at the moment, judging by the threads on this forum, for me to get sorted. I'll take a look again in the new year.

You don't have to wear a helmet or rash vest or be in a club.Just be insured.Dont let the 'rantings' of few disgruntled f....wits put you off.I think you will find the reality that it is a great(and welcoming)beach
