snowbird Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Fawk, The picture in your message is a static loop for a BAR !!! Folks don't use them much anymore but they came with most old LEI kites. It wouldn't work at all. Climbing rope works well for me. I stopped at the marine shop and picked up a quick release and D pin to attach at one handle. Works for safety + is handy to detach when sorting lines. I think the velcro things you refer to are " kite killers " they attach to your brake lines and wrists. Quote
Mark Rose Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Take the main leaders out of your handles and replace with one peice of 5mm dyneema going straight through both handles. Adjust to length and you willl never have another strop problem. Quote
Smiley Mike Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 slight deviation here.... but would waxing a strop rope (if using with a hook harness) like a depower rope increase its lifespan? Quote

It may have been a mod, as i have and know what kite killers are and these are certainly not them..... they were strapped to the handles just below the pigs tail..... Not to worry, looks like il have to pay moe attention at scouts and get some rope!!! Thanks for the advice ppl! Quote
