One of the highest points in Brum is a place called, Barr Beacon. You can see for miles and miles around.

I used to love going up there around this time of year.

It's like seeing a firework display in IMAX-o-vision.

It's also a top dogging spot...... er......so i hear.:)

We had a fireworks party which nearly turned out bad.

We had one of these big (and i mean BIG) display rocket.. so we lit it and ran back. Then the f'in thing exploded out the way, didnt shoot up or anything. Luckily noone was hurt but mate has a slight burn on his neck.

Bloody hell it was loud and i havent crapped myself so hard

Now you know why it says on most fireworks "spectators must be at least 25m away...." ;)

As some of you know, i work in the Pyro industry, It amazes me just how many folks buy these huge fireworks and use them in small spaces, ignoring all the safety info on the various units:confused:

(Not having a pop @ Adam F there)

I've been working for the last few weeks in a firework shop and everyone that comes in has had a "huge garden".........yeah right..!!!

Guy came in last week, ordered a few nice pieces and wanted them delivered. I dropped them off at his house last night, his garden was TINY...

I looked around and could plainly see he was getting ready for a party tonight.

i mentioned the size of the garden. His reply " oh, we are having the party here, but these fireworks are going to be let off round a mates with a bigger garden"

I am out the next couple of nights firing organised displays, good fun and a great buzz, especialy at the end when (hopefully) the audience show their appretiation. :D

What ever you all do tonight,

Have FUN.

But more importantly..

Please, BE SAFE.

PHIL.

BTW, Large display rockets are a total rip off......there is a limit to how much content the various manufacturers are alowed to put in rockets

(Governed by weight)

Better to buy a well loaded medium sized rocket, they burst lower in the sky, so the effect is closer and looks just a big as a large rocket, they are cheaper too.

Better still buy a decent pack and let a few go at once......

"Display rocket" is such a misleading term.....nobody i know would EVER use rockets in a display..they are too unpredictable..

Take care everyone.

As it turns out our Chairman made a mistake...the Beaumaris firework display was yesterday night (realised at about 10pm by one of the other members) but seeing as how the bus is booked for today, we're going to find somewhere else instead!

Sounds like some of you had some good fun yesterday. Anybody else off out this evening?

I sat on top of Swanlicote dry ski slope at a University race meet yesterday watching 180 degrees of fireworks and the occasional house catch on fire.

I'll remember that for when I'm home! The Swad slope is only 10 mins down the road!

Do you fly round there or was it a fair trek just for the trip?
