The Flyin Scotsman Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 Wasn't the 2nd one on here a while back? Think the surfer was also a kitesurfer who was doing the surf stunt for a movie? Kev Quote

Tuffty Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 recon that the second one is fake the second one isnt fake the bloke is called Laird Hamilton You should see the film, Riding Giants, he is on there and bugger, the waves are big:eek: Quote
angus8ken Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 my money is on the first being a fake but rekon the second is real ( but bloody awesome...) Quote
tobyj21 Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 I'd be really suprised if either are fake. People surf waves like that (and more dangerous sometimes) relatively often; it would be a complete waste of time to bother faking it when theres already footage of people doing this type of thing. If you're gonna bother to fake something I think you'd go for something a little more ambitious, eg. something that hasn't been done, or at least filmed yet. Those guys are nutters though, you wouldn't catch me surfing anything a tenth of that size Quote
troy1599968664 Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 i'd just like to know who has the balls to attempt this type of stuff. its madness Quote
Redmini Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 that first one is sick but that second one is deffo fake the guy on the board body postion dosent move at all Quote
Flash000 Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 Check out the film and website Billabong Odessy. The quest for a 100ft wave! The second wave is on there. Its no fake. Its not Laird Hamilton, Its Mike Parsons, he was also interviewed by Richard and Judy about the film! Its a great film and features Laird and many others riding some of the biggest waves on the planet. Quote
G Padpo Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 neither of them are fake! these people are pushing the limits of the sport they love, everyone does it - at any level. and for this we're critisising them! i dont understand??? dont mean to be a party pooper but it annoys me when that happens Quote
doc Posted October 9, 2006 Author Report Posted October 9, 2006 i agree bud -they are putting their own lives on the line -nobody else's and it is incredible the bravery that they have. Most of us guys who look at things rationally would just not even contemplate it - awesome Quote
king.module Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 the second one isnt fake the bloke is called Laird Hamilton You should see the film, Riding Giants, he is on there and bugger, the waves are big:eek: Riding Giants is just mental - i thought the link i posted (forever now known as the 'second one' ) was taken from Riding Giants.... and as other people have mentioned - there is no point faking these kind of movies as people ARE doing them for real..... Quote
Fairy Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 i am sure this was on the news.... laird hamilton is god..his video is another level...he just takes extreme sports above and beyond.... Quote
