rasga Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 ras, ive had thatchers Coxes, very nice! ive heard the one uve had is better though I've not tried the others that Thatchers do but the Katy one is lovely, very very easy to drink and not too dry. Got to be careful with that % though, much nicer than Old Rosie which is a 7.6! Quote

Brother Dave Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Now if ya all knew what was good for ya then you would all know the best beers come from Belgium . end of story:p . Duvel , Hoegaarden , Kwak , Kreik , Kueze , leffe to name a few. And for cider there is only one certain brand of cider that rings out the bells and that is Westons cider. Special keg is my fav. Grebby Posted September 30, 2006 Report Posted September 30, 2006 I was on some Thatchers - Kay - Single Apple Cider : 7.7% or so. Very easy to drink, not majorly sweet easily, only noticed the % this morning! Also sainsburys own brand (dont worry its not white label) do a dry and a sweet cider thats not too bad. But tonight i think i'll give some Leffe a shot, its not Blonde/Brune its a different one a red foil but i've now noticed its 8%! Thatchers do a decent range of single variety ciders. Non of which are quite dry enough for me. That said my taste is a sort of extreme dry. 7+% is perfectly normal, you won't see an official cider over 8.5% though. Over 8.5 and it gets taxed more as apple wine, thus does not exist. You just get a lot of 8.5%ish ciders. One of the more interesting was "Bin Ladin's downfall", marked as 8.5 but all staff at the festival were told only to sell it in nips(1/3 pint). Reliably informed by the guys in the know that it was approx 13%. Wife went outside for a fag and managed to fall over that night and break her nose. Just woke up outside lay on her back in the rain and dark, thought "This is nice and comfortable". Decided it was definatly bed time. Quote
