leopard Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Hi foks, I want to start snowkiting this winter, just bought 7m sabre, but still do not know if i should buy waist, or seat harness... any advices..? thanx leopard Quote
einarg Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Hi there, I would recommend a seat harness, that's what we use here in Iceland most of the time, you can get a cheap but nice harness from Prolimit. Like the kiteseat combo or kiteseat pro, they are both good. If you cant find a harness at your local dealer store cheap then contact me and i'll help you out on that. Cheers, Einar. Quote
adrenalinepsyco Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Seat is better as it dont pull your jacket up, unless you use a onepiece ski suit (scuds artic rescue actionman suit:) ). Ive heard that maui magic seat harness is the same as the waist if you cut off the nappy bit but never seen it done, that way if seat dont suit you its easy to turn it into a waist harness. The only thing with seat harnesses that i dont like is that you have to tuck in the front of your jacket so it dont get in the way for the hook, otherwise it wrecks the jacket in no time. Quote
leopard Posted August 15, 2006 Author Report Posted August 15, 2006 thanx guys, I thought seat one would be better, so I will have a look at those... good wind 2 U 2 Quote
lewiss Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 you can get a waist and a climbing harness, then mod them to use together. not sure how to do it though. Quote
cstowell Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 I've used both seat/waist harnesses over the winter. If I had to use just one it'd be the seat (Dakine Fusion), it's simply more comfortable in colder conditions, no jacket riding up and getting cold... However in spring conditions the waist harness was pretty handy too. I left my Dakine in California in the back of a rental car and was forced to use the waist harness. Glad that it took a week to get the harness back as I found that I prefer to use the waist harness when I was wearing less clothes (t-shirt/over hoodie) as it gives you a bit more airborne flexability, easier to get your bindings sorted too. Joe2003 Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 get a session harness, best of both worlds and soooo comfy, they do take ages to get set right though Quote
G Padpo Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 its down to personal preference. seat would probably be better, but you have more manoverability in a waist. a waist/seat would be good, mystic do a nice one. just try out what fits best Quote
lewiss Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 have you tried a climbing harness? i've yet to find a harness more comfy, has more manoverability, and is as comfy in the air. and as you snow kiters sped soo much time in the air..... Quote

CoolRider Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 I think you should get a Seat harness Quote
PrairieWind Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 mystic makes a dedicated snow kiting harness - waist harness but with leg loops like a climbing harness to prevent creeping up there are pictures of in the articles section of www.snowkiting.com Quote
naebothernoo Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 When i was polehugging I used a waist harness with a nappy attachment to hold down the hook Quote
sonicseal Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 I've tried the Maui Magic Blazer snowkite harness, very nice too. Quote
niels74 Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 hey, other then the above of personal prev, do keep in mind that going upwind snowkiting you will need to fly your kite as low as possible, or at least lower then you are used to get more edge on yor board, there the waist harness also sits lower on your body and gives you a lower hook height and is closer to your point of gravity, this might help you out as well,i use both however mostly use my seat, i recently got an dakine Fusion and this seat gives me amazing stabilty and holds the hook down amazingly. good luck :-) Quote
sebringbgmail. Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 hello! it has always been quite the debate.. thou its pretty simple.. i find that seat harnesses are better for riding, they are more stable and don't ride up.. If you wanna do jumps and freestyle you wanna have a waist harness for full mobility.. you'll see that a waist harness allows you to bend and turn much easier than a seat harness.. mystic have harnesses that can be used as a waist and seat harness..
