cookster Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 You'll be lucky I reckon. Today is changeover day, so you could try ringing around and asking if there are any vacancies. Leading up to the Saturday everywhere is probably fully booked. But then after Saturday's some place may have spaces due to cancellations or no-shows!! gigglefairy Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 I know the feeling - a week ago I tried to book a campsite for the Peak District. I reckon I phoned every campsite in the area and no luck! you wouldn't have thought one car and a small tent could take up so much space. What really amazes me is that last year we went to the Isle of Wight, turned up at 10pm and found ourselves a half-empty campsite! Why is everyone else camping this year?! Quote

Last week Friday I phones around and came up with two places.. Both wanted a booking fee in advance but I persuaded tehm that "If I phoned on the last minute and there was a place would that be OK" and they agreed but wouldn't guarantee a place. I was only after an overnight so I think they were happy to squeeze me in somewhwre just for the cash... little do they know I travel in a 6 man hotel TREGLISSON TOURING PARK (nearer to HAYLE off the A30) - 01736 753141 had one pitch for the week around the 11th August PENDERLEATH ..... (??) (nearer to St Ives - off the B3311) - 01736 798403 they had more than one pitch and were after cash up front ... I think they had a booking form on line which you had to fill in but I said if I phone and you have space will you keep it if i'm on my way - that was OK Feel free to call (good luck) Frakke Quote
