Angoose
right ino i posted mega early on in this thread but have finally got some funds together and am gonna drop ralf a line wot would people say is the best set up as ino theres all different wheels, swan necks, axel lengths and all that. i am a beginner although i can power slide and go upwind in a radsail buggy. the buggy of choice will be used by me and many other beginners but mostly by myself in a field to cruise
Maverick440
RS set up, IMHO is as follows: Swan neck down tube, Delli Midi tyres (great on grass and sand)........... Axle length depends greatly on were and how you are going to transport the bug, 1.1 meter axle is fine but you will get more stability and be able to hold more power as you progress with a 1.5 meter axle... My setup is, swan neck, Delli midi tyres and a 1.5 meter axle with 150mm frame rail extenders.........:D:D
raptor
burberry belly pan now hhmmm makes you think You can't leave a comment like that without explaining it LOL. The conversation was about the "RS owners club" and team colours. So we need some faux burbery on the hoodies then:eek: RS owners club what explaining does that need, it just springs to mind "souped up" Fords and scrotes driving them
raptor
for the price and the build of the buggies it's a shame they had the name of R.S
Angoose
would the swan neck be considered a must then as i'm strugglin on funds for the buggy as it is.
Maverick440
No the swan neck is not a must, and the original down tube can be "swan necked" at a later date, thats what i did to mine ans Spiritflyers............:D
Angoose
cool i think i'll give the swan neck a miss for time being. am thinking 1.1 axle with the midi wheels and bog standard frame in erm red me thinks cheers mav
Angoose
NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO just been e-mailing ralf and he won't have any seats for about 3-4 weeks thats well ghey, have decided to go for the standard setup with midi wheels cos i thought for £20 to upgrade later to a wider axel is not a probs. Looks like demand is outstripping supply then. Sorry to hear that. Mine is standard set up with midi's. Seems fine to me. Think the upgrade will be more than £20...that might be the extra for "factory fitting"

Maverick440
I think youl find that the new / new seat........... has a modified front loop similar to a libre seat alowing the seat to sit further back in the frame rails as opposed to on the frame rails.............:D When i sent Ralph the photos of the mod id done to my new style seat, he did say that he would have it sorted on his next batch of seats ....... Regarding the RS owners club springing to mind a bunch of n*bs in fords, it would be so easy to stereotype others.... 4 liters of american iron, wimps engine try 440 cubes of MOPARS finest, now that power`........ Now you know why i have lots or Orange paint...........:D http://www.redreckracing.freeserve.co.uk/sp0207_6_20.jpg
Spiritflier
for the price and the build of the buggies it's a shame they had the name of R.S Too bloody right... Somebody email Ralf and tell him to change his name! And I resemble that remark about Fords... some of us poor folk still drive Escorts! *** Regardless of any off-hand and ill-informed swipes, the RS is still the best value-for-money buggy out there as far as I'm concerned. It does exactly what it's supposed to and it does it at a cost that a lot more people can afford. Just like one or two other makes of buggy, it's done a lot to increase the appeal and accessibility of the sport. See ya, Si
Bushy99
@Si and Mark Don't rise to the bait too much. Raptor is just trying to wind me up LOL Although he may feel abit inaddequate with his little engine now PMSL;)

Now you know why i have lots or Orange paint...........:D LOL if i'd got the spare cash then a lump of that size would be sourced and fitted. it's a shame it's called RS. if you want to compare it to ford then compare the mk1 and mk2 escort now that is where it all began @bushy you didn't see the mod i did to the head stock on mine,(libre copy) junked the nylon bearing and replaced with two thrust bearings. alot better. no worries maverick just dangling the carrot for bushy
